Wednesday Apr 30

Note
(injured)
Ankle really hurting today. Hurts to walk and no idea why but had to call off going to gym - probs just as well as upper back is getting stiffer and stiffer, the more I do to it. But ankle hasn't hurt like this before, scar tissue is really painful. Will see physio next week about it.

Fine next day...

Tuesday Apr 29

athletics warm up/down 10:00 [3]
Raining. In fact so wet that we did the first half of the session inside, then when it stopped, went and threw some spears with Lizzy and Aleina.
athletics (javelin) 30:00 [3]
strength/conditioning (med ball) 40:00 [3]
lots of med ball stuff and just general conditioning-y stuff inside.
circuits 15:00 [3]

Monday Apr 28

weights 30:00 [4]
Gym trial session at Courtyard gym with Carl. He seems a bit pushy but I think I could get a lot out of having a gym to hand, espeically over the exam period.
aerobic gym stuff 10:00 [4]
Quite intense actually, on some machine that simulates running style without impact.
cycling warm up/down (stationary bike) 5:00 [3]

Sunday Apr 27

athletics warm up/down 45:00 [3]
athletics race 1:00:00 [3]
NJL Yate. Shot, Jav, Discus.

Shot: 8.26. Not too bad considering. Having a bit of difficulty balancing on bad leg.

Jav: 23.40, terrible. Tense up in competition completely, only got 2/6 decent throws and they weren't great at all.

Discus: 20.91. bit of a laugh, haven't done it for years. reckon I could have got miles with a turn but it went in the net. and then a stand went in the net, so I was very careful on my third throw! 20.91 but qualification standard for a further 3 throws was 22m...

I hate not being able to jump/run/hurdle...

Saturday Apr 26

swimming 17:00 [3] 0.6 km (28:20 / km)
Swimming at Dursley at lunchtime. Two silly slow people in the lane who wouldn't let me get past so had to keep stopping to give myself enough space.
swimming 9:00 [4] 0.4 km (22:30 / km)
silly slow people vanished and swam properly!

Friday Apr 25

physio 15:00 [3]
was really restless when i got home from school and really wanted to do something, but was looking like rain so didnt want to run and anyway bike is blocked in garage with skip in the way, and pool wasn't available for public swimming so...

bouncey bouncey bouncey on trampette in living room! lots of different stuff. can be quite hard work actually!

Thursday Apr 24

athletics warm up/down 10:00 [3]
athletics (javelin) 1:00:00 [3]
Jav with Lizzy, really nice with just the two of us throwing. Got my head around it a bit more tonight I think, was quite a good session.
mobility (hurdle drills) 10:00 [2]
running 1:00 [4]
2x60 light running on toes, still limping a bit.
circuits 15:00 [3]

Tuesday Apr 22

Note
Physio with Chris, much more positive session than last time:

No plyos til mid June, but start in pool in about a month.
Running - fine. Running in forests is great, just wear support. Running on sanddunes would be even better.
Range of movement improving. Will join Courtyard gym and get some guidance on a weights programme from Carolyn.
Out for this season, start fitness training now in time for summer.
Few jav and shot comps but nothing too major, concentrate on fitness.
Want to be fit for O-Ringen.
athletics warm up/down 10:00 [2]
Was late for training, not a good start, so warm up really rushed and all stressed out when I got there.
athletics (javelin) 45:00 [3]
rubbish rubbish rubbish. i can't throw javelins at all at the moment, every session is just terrible...
strength/conditioning (medicine ball) 20:00 [3]
stress relief!
circuits 10:00 [3]

Monday Apr 21

Note
Feeling a bit bleurgh and had darn biology planning exercise to be done. Eugh, DON'T want to be back at school... only 18 days left mind...

Sunday Apr 20

Note
Went to relays but didn't run, not plannig on it but I would have liked to, lovely forest and lovely day, but had a pretty early plane to catch so just spectated for a bit.

Saturday Apr 19

Event: British Long Champs

orienteering race 59:00 [4] ***** 4.7 km (12:33 / km) +110m 11:14 / km
spiked:10/14c
British at Culbin, was wearing dad's Jalas boots and they were really good, just gave bit of extra support. Was really surprised, able to run fine! Really enjoyed it, and was spiking 1-6 til I thought 'this is goood' - then I think I just lost concentration and went and faffed around at 7, and screwed up 8 & 9 bigtime. Boots bit painful towards the end and I was a bit knackered - serious lack of fitness. But the main thing is I can orienteer again! Oh and I'm British Champ (W20S - ssssh) okay so its not saying much really as I was also last, but I did get a Buff out of it...

Tuesday Apr 15

Note
Physio session with Fran, got a bit tearful at times but have lots of things that need sorting.

1. I need an action plan, a training schedule with
someone to answer to rather than just deciding what I
feel like doing. It was working well before Christmas,
and as my motivation can be quite low at the moment
its particularly important.

Incorporate strength & conditioning, core, balance
(which I can do at physio/home) and cardiovascular
fitness which is the big one as I've lost a lot. Need
to get some running training in somewhere building
towards intervals/speed work (not sprints for now as
ankle not up to it). Effectively back to 'winter
training'.

2. Skills training - obviously keep going on throws
for now, but not too much of a priority at the moment
as not planning on doing any major comps this summer.

3. Sit down, periodise training and decide goals for
indoor season/next summer.

4. Orienteering - happy for me to do as much as I feel
comfortable doing. Want to be able to run in Sweden in
July (so cardiovascular important here too).

athletics warm up/down 15:00 [2]
athletics (shot) 40:00 [3]
shot with lizzy, not tooo bad...
strength/conditioning (medicine ball) 20:00 [3]
circuits 15:00 [3]

Monday Apr 14

athletics warm up/down 20:00 [3]
athletics (javelin) 1:00:00 [3]
I hate javelin at the moment, never seems to go right...
running 2:00 [4]
some light sprints on track, ankle still not great.
stretching 10:00 [1]
warm down - splits and stuff.

Monday Apr 7

athletics warm up/down 15:00 [2]
athletics (javelin) 50:00 [3]
Another frustrating session - feel I'm so close to getting my head around technique but not quite there. Ankle painful from yesterday's exertions so took it easy.
athletics (hurdles) 5:00 [3]
2x trail leg drills and 1x lead leg then stopped.
stretching 10:00 [1]
Stretching at end of session - splits exercises and stuff.

Sunday Apr 6

Event: British Sprint Championships

orienteering race 21:31 [3] *** 2.4 km (8:58 / km) +50m 8:07 / km
spiked:23/25c shoes: Adidas Swoop
British sprint heats - Warwick uni campus. Not going 100% - half being cautious with ankle (especially as snowy/grassy so slippery) and half total lack of cardiovascular fitness! Pretty pleased all the same, got round with no problems and just a stupid mistake!
orienteering race 17:53 [4] *** 2.4 km (7:27 / km) +50m 6:45 / km
spiked:22/22c
British Sprint Final - C Final. 11th. Really pleased with run, spiked all and although was a bit slow, it was mostly down to fitness and not ankle holding me up. Felt so nice to be running again!
