Note

Got another 1.5 hr sleep from 3 until 4:30 am. At 6:30am I took over pacing and went with Marge from the last aid station to the finish, 13.5 miles. All power hiking. Unfortunately I couldn't drag her fast enough, exhaustion and bad feet (both bone pain and blisters) took their toll. While she finished unfortunately it was in 30:19:14, almost 20 minutes after the official cutoff. I am very proud of her for gutting it out.

I am pleased with my Colorado Convention O efforts and my pacing at the LT100. It is time to declare recovery from the pelvic saga and continue to increase my training, so that I can actually run at speed again. I am doing 10:30 pace for 3 miles at this point.

Note

Went to the Leadville Trail 100 miler. Today I was crewing for Marge Hickman. She has finished 13 times previously, winning it in 1985 and finishing 2nd about 5 times. So I was up at 3:00 am to watch the start and start the "hurry up and wait" job of crewing. Finally got 1.5 hr sleep from 10:30pm to Midnight.

Running 31:30 [2] 3.0 mi (10:30 / mi)

Been negligent about adding training especially during the Colorado O week+.
I competed in a Score-O on the first Friday as part of the zero2orange course (trainer section), then drove a lot to get home for Libby's heart catheterization and stent implantation. Then drove to Saylor park to put out water, then drove to Peaceful Valley to compete in the night-O. Collected night-o controls, then drove to Saylor park to put out the rest of the water and my 1/2 of the controls. Competed in the Short O on Fri. Collected long-o controls on Sat. Competed in the relay, and then collected one more forgotten control from the Long-O, and then drove home again. I guess I should put Car Driving in my log right next to aggressive sun therapy (or is that road rage next to passive sun therapy?)

I am very pleased with my rehab, I was actually running uphill (but not downhill or over rough terrain) during the week, and felt quite strong. Even ran into the finish of the relay (yeah, that was downhill).

To celebrate my recovery I have signed up for the 5km version of the Neder-Nederland race in early September.
