Adventure Racing race 8:00:00 [5]

Race the RockstAR!

Well... we did something at the Rockstar, not sure racing would be the correct descriptor...
Ginger and I took on the Rockstar for maybe our 10th year? The course looked awesome we had a solid plan, the weather was HOT, and BUGGY, did I mention BUGGY? the canoe around Bark went smooth, first female to make CPA, what a great start!, we swiftly loaded the bikes into boat and paddled across the lake again, still making excellent time! On the ATV trails to the furthest CPs 100-110-101 still making ok time, the ATV trail was challenging, it was hot and buddy, any chance we had we took a dip to cool off , after CP 100 the woods seemed well.. open, thinking maybe just maybe we could bike whack to 92, since the ATV was not overly appealing... and this is when it went off the rails.

Our Race Mantra "Live and Learn - we'll know for next time, NO BIKE WHACKING!

Clearly the heat bugs had affected our brains, Another team had the same idea, but we separated fairly quickly and after bike whacking for like 1.5 hours, we found... the road, F*&^%$&*&%&*^%$$$^!!!! defeated exhausted unable to think in heat and bugs, we slowly took the ATV trail back wasting tonnes of time, destroying our excellent start. having lost hours, we quickly hit CP 61 on the way back to CPB mandatory check in.

At this point aware we were no where near a solid finish, we decided its fun time, we're adventure racing, we LOVE the rockstar, and all teams have off days (I've heard there were many!) so we hit as many of the activity based CPs as possible in our last hour, made up nearly 400 points and finished strong.

Not the race or finish we hoped for, but chalk it up to another fabulous day in woods, with millions of our best buggy friends.

The after party rocks as usual, and another day in the woods with my best friend and teammate!
