Scottish 5k champs at cramond.

Did this race last year and enjoyed it so much - I couldn’t just be sat on the sidelines this year despite the difference in expectation and outcome.

Saw a pal I knew from home - she became an instant target; my competitive edge still in tact.

I lined up and was still not sure as for how I was feeling - ankle after yesterday’s misdemeanour in the meadows had been concerning me for most of the day, then feeling a bit sick on the start line wasn’t ideal. No worries though, get out and see how I felt...

First km: im comfortable. How when I ran 342 was I comfortable I don’t know. Just got carried away in the crowd... ideal. Then km 2 and three - I was actually on for a PB (sub 1919) at 3.5km then it hit and hit bad.

Unfortunately a 4th km of 4.15 put me back in my place and I finished with a 4.03, gritting my actual teeth and praying to be under 2030 which was my initial aim.

So much so that I ran 20.05. Back to where I was at my fittest - mind you, wasn’t as easy as it used to be, HOWEVER, this is just the beginning. I’m so happy.

Knocked another 45 seconds off my season’s times. Confidence tonight paid dividends. Yeeee boiiiiii.

Run tempo (fartlek) 25:02 [4] 5.3 km (4:43 / km) +20m 4:38 / km

was planning a tempo twenty but didn't fancy it in the windy conditions this eve. instead did 5 mins tempo, 5 mins easier x 3 (with the wind behind me - or supposedly - for each effort). Good session overall. Not pushing toooooo hard which was nice.
