DUMYAT HILL RACE 2018
Bounced out of my exam at 4pm and turned my bike around in remarkable speed to hit the road to Stirling. Rain and wind. Grim. Saw the hill from the M9 and questioned my Wednesday night choice of entertainment.
From the off I was fairly caught up in the queues of people, but used this to my advantage as to not go too wild running up the steep bits where everyone else knew it was more sensible to walk. I could see Lucy Haines for a fair amount of the technical ascending, copying her technique (thanks xoxo). Began to tire as my calves were on fire making any flat running pretty difficult. I kept pushing.
Probs a good thing the top of the hill was covered in cloud so i didnt want to hang about to take in the view haha. Keen to go back though! As for the descent, I was so tense and nervous, tightly gripping my fists together, my forearms have equally as bad DOMS as my legs.
The best part came when the descending became a path, then a ROAD! I absolutely went for it - my only time to shine - taking at least 4 people in the final 800m lol.
It's a different type of tired to that of the 5k champs. A tired I don't dislike, however :)
