Run race 19:18 [5] 4.54 km (4:15 / km) +20m 4:10 / km

La Grenobloise race

Parc Paul Mistral is officially very small and the tight corners were not doing bits! Struggled in the 30 degree heat as well (full of complaints!) Anyway I felt like I had a decent run out - I could see the gap for 3rd place ahead of me, I wanted it but couldn't push myself too far out the comfort zone... dunno why. ah well. not al bad run all in all. I suppose I was waiting for the final 500m of the advertised 5km race but they never came hahaha Frenchies for you.

Run 24:53 [3] 4.23 km (5:53 / km) +20m 5:45 / km

Run warm up/down 23:20 [3] 4.83 km (4:50 / km) +11m 4:47 / km

warm up with the group

Run tempo 18:44 [5] 4.03 km (4:39 / km) +35m 4:27 / km

undulating loop round parc ile d'amour.

fartlek went something like this...

90 seconds on, 30 seconds off
2 mins on, 40 seconds off
2.5 mins on, 2.5 mins off (should have been a minute on here but I cut the corner instead)
2.5 mins on, 50 seconds off,
2 mins on, 40 seconds off
and one final 90

decent session all in all... would have been better had I understood the numbers of effort to recovery prior to starting. just France things.

Run warm up/down 7:11 [3] 1.21 km (5:56 / km)

Run 2:33:10 [3] 13.01 km (11:46 / km) +930m 8:40 / km

solo alpine expedition, feeling a wee bit lonely but pushing through.

drove 30 mins into the mountains to a town in the Chartreuse regional park. Straight up the masssssssive hill - classic. it became a fast walk pretty damn quick!

enjoyed myself nonetheless, until I got to the forest hahaha apologies to all orienteers to which that comment offended.

there were loads of spiders webs and noises and all exaggerated when solo and unsure whether the path may direct me off the edge of the ridge at any point, trusting my own (amazing, if not slightly unreliable) navigational capacity. Wow 5k of slow moving forest and I had made it out. I made it to a little farm with my next challenge, cows on the path. Round and up climbing again and I was 3km from home... round the sheep and horses and it was a lovely hairpin descent, all the way home.

My long run for the week I reckon. I’m racing 5km on Sunday and want to do well (impress my new coach n that.)

Missing everything about Edinburgh pretty bad today. Peaks and troughs in emotion is hard going. In good news I am getting fitter and healthy, my classes are going well, just a bit lonely likes... should be better tomorrow, I have a busier day with more classes.

morning jog to the outdoor gym and back. making the most of this weather.

Harrison's 5 min abs classic and some other core bits
6 PM

Run warm up/down 27:32 [3] 5.61 km (4:54 / km) +17m 4:50 / km

track session warm up - almost a session in itself. slightly less long than last week but still... puts me through my paces for sure.

good chat as per with Anais and the orienteers.

Run intervals 15:44 [5] 3.71 km (4:14 / km)

Well then:

Track session (still very very hot here)

2 x (4 x (200m, 50m jog, 150m)) recup de 1' entre chaque tour et 1min45 entre chaque bloque.
Le coach aime beaucoup les 400m divises.

I was pretty knackered by the 6th one, the last 3 laps were a real struggle. managed to keep each rep under 40 secs (just). legs were v heavy. I havent felt like that for AGES.

Run warm up/down 11:15 [3] 1.91 km (5:53 / km)

Volleyball 1:00:00 [1]

volleyball training - you can choose a sport which you can take and get credits, so I have chosen volleyball... awaiting the time in the future when I get a call up on the beach in some wonderfully hot country and I can play, like a pro.

decent chat with decent people - nice to do a team sport :)

Run 57:13 [3] 10.11 km (5:40 / km) +112m 5:22 / km

really easy jog to the volleyball training and then an extended loop home equalling 10km.

felt comfortable although I had been putting it off all day as I still felt deed after yesterday.
