I did this mainly through the fields. My foot feels much better in more cushioned shoes as they encourage me to heel strike (and perhaps I'm doing it subconsciously to make running more comfortable). On a flat, even surface I don't even notice it but as soon as I place my right foot on anything uneven I get a twang of pain. Interestingly the road feels the most comfortable as even flat, grassy fields aren't completely level.
