Running (Moderate) 2:22:30 [4] 19.0 mi (7:30 / mi) +35m 7:27 / mi
slept:8.5 shoes: Hoka speed instinct 2

I drove to the High Peak Trail to do the session and there was a lot more snow than I expected. It was quite trodden down in most places so running conditions ok, just a bit slower than usual. There was also every kind of precipitation so I carried a small pack with an extra layer.
I tried to set off at 7’00”/mile pace but it soon became apparent that wasn’t sustainable given the conditions. My pace also massively dropped off in the final 5 miles or so, in part a nutrition thing and probably because I’d worked a bit too hard early on. Despite all the excuses I never actually felt that great from the start, nothing specific though. Some sort of background weariness, probably a mental thing as much as physical.

Running (Easy) 39:00 [2] 4.1 mi (9:31 / mi) +238m 8:04 / mi
slept:5.0 shoes: Hoka speed instinct 2

Shorter than planned as I was a bit slow getting out of bed and had limited time. Half asleep but felt ok. Hill sprints good.

Note
slept:4.0

Unplanned rest day (was supposed to do 60’ moderate). My car broke down on the way home from work (luckily it was just the battery) but it meant I didn’t get home until 2230. Dont get breakdown cover from Britannia!

A little tired today, but no tightness anywhere. Strides ok.
Went to work for 9 hours (on my day off)

Running (Fundamental Hill Circuit) 1:37:00 [4] 11.4 mi (8:31 / mi) +458m 7:34 / mi
slept:8.0 shoes: Hoka speed instinct 2

4 x circuits. I didn't really want to do this today, I think because I have a lot of work to get done which is slightly stressful. Once I was on the hill though I was motivated to push hard. Same hill as previously (I think finding a new hill would help ease the repetitiveness of it but I can't think as any other good ones nearby). I managed to almost match my pace on all the sets, probably because I took it slightly easier on the 1st one. Felt good. It's quite clever how the sequence of pace variations and exercise make it just manageable, regardless of how hard you start out.

Running (easy w/ speed variations) 58:00 [2] 7.0 mi (8:17 / mi) +61m 8:04 / mi
slept:8.0 shoes: Hoka speed instinct 2

Running around Glasgow. I found a park but it seemed a bit dark and suspect so I decided to stick to the riverside. A better venue for speed variations than muddy fields, except for the need to dodge hundreds of cyclists.
I can't seem to get rid of that last bit of hamstring tightness. I can't do much more stretching/rolling than I already am. Each bout of fast running will inevitably make them sore, but I think the soreness is slightly less each time.
A late night after driving home.

Running (easy) 1:29:00 [2] 10.6 mi (8:24 / mi) +275m 7:46 / mi
shoes: Salomon ultra 3

Drove to Glasgow and through lack of imagination decided to run along the most boring section of the West Highland Way. Still a nice change of scenery though and good to be running on something that isn't a muddy field or tarmac. Hamstrings a little tights but otherwise felt reasonably good.
