Running (Easy) 1:30:00 [2] 8.6 mi (10:28 / mi) +535m 8:46 / mi
slept:9.5 shoes: Salomon ultra 3

It was a last minute decision to go to Snowdonia this weekend so Matt could look at a couple of sections for his PBR. I’m looking after a friend’s puppy so I had to wait for someone to be free to take it for a while before I could go for my run. A loop from Aberglaslyn, some good trails and some fairly rough terrain. Snowdonia is one of my favourite places in the world so it felt great to be back here. On the whole I felt really good. Definitely more spring in my step than there has been for a while. My calves felt a little tight when running uphill but this was very predictable. Otherwise no issues.

Note
slept:5.0 (rest day)

Similar to yesterday really, except i’m tired. Stayed really late at work so didn’t get a chance to run.

Note
slept:7.0 (rest day)

I felt better at work today. I ended up staying 3 hours late working on a project that has its deadline approaching. Not ideal but i’ll probably loose a lot of sleep over it if it’s not under control.

Running (Easy) 1:04:00 [2] 6.5 mi (9:51 / mi) +261m 8:45 / mi
slept:9.0 shoes: Sense Ride 2s

I slept better but still woke up several times and didn’t feel particularly refreshed when I got up. Felt fairly tired all morning, but my throat was better. I actually had a much more energy when running and didn’t get tired towards the end of the run like I did on Monday. A loop on the trails around the woods. I felt a little sluggish on the first couple of strideouts, like I couldn’t get my legs moving quickly enough, but the last few were better. Still not 100% though and I felt tired again when I got home. I managed to have a 20’ nap after lunch and felt a lot better.
7 PM

Cycling (Static bike) 1:00:00 [2]

This morning I thought i’d end up skipping this session, but after my nap I felt great. I was pushed for time so did this in the gym rather than outside. It was an easy effort (but by no means effortless), alternating 5’ sitting down, 5’ standing up.
Straight into the sauna (still dripping with sweat) afterwards for 20’.

Note
slept:5.5 (rest day)

Long day at work. Despite being really tired last night it took a couple of hours to get to sleep, so really tired again today. My throat was also quite sore and legs achy. I’m not sure if i’m getting I’ll or just need a lot more sleep. Felt pretty crap all day.

S&C 1:00:00 [1]

I cycled to the gym & back (only 10mins each way)
2 sets of 6-8 reps:

Suitcase deadlift (kg) 2 x 18 20
Step ups (kg) 2 x 8 10
Split squats (kg) 2 x 8 10
Hamstring curls (single leg reps) 16 16 16
Side plank (hip drop knee to chest) 70s on each side
Captains chair leg raises (reps) 16 16 18
Single leg arabesque w/ 6kg (reps) 14 14 14
Adductor side plank - 45s on each side
Reverse plank 55s
DB press 2 x 12 14
DB front raise 2 x 6 6
Pull ups 6 6
Bench dips 20 20

I didn't notice how long the session took but I think it was about an hour. I seem to have made some progress time-wise with all 3 planks. I took it fairly easy with the lower body weights that I haven't done for a month. Despite not having done much upper body stuff I'm sure I couldn't do 6 pull ups last time I tried (I actually managed 7 in a competition at the festival yesterday!).
Even though my quads have felt fine whilst running for the last couple of days, they felt a little sore and quite tight doing the split squats today.

20’ sauna after the session. I wondered whether after all that time in CA the sauna might feel easier. It didn’t.
3 PM

Running (easy) 1:02:00 [2] 6.3 mi (9:50 / mi) +240m 8:48 / mi
slept:9.0 shoes: Sense Ride 2s

Despite a good sleep I felt fairly tired all day today. Usual route around the fields. The first few miles I actually felt really fresh. Plenty of bounce and legs niggle-free. I then got progressively more tired and by the end my legs were aching, a bit like i'd run 30 or 40 miles. I just wanted to lie down and go to sleep.

Running (easy) 1:09:00 [2] 6.2 mi (11:08 / mi) +197m 10:08 / mi
slept:7.0 shoes: Salomon ultra 4

Not as desperately tired this morning as I was yesterday morning. This was a guided women's trail run. I led at the front of the group which meant the actual running wasn't too frustratingly slow but we did have to stop frequently and wait for the slower runners to catch up. We were actually out for nearly 2 hours in total.

Quick turnaround then 60' workshop. Similar to yesterday. Didnt involve too much running.
2 PM

Running (easy) 1:10:00 [2] 4.9 mi (14:17 / mi) +188m 12:46 / mi
shoes: Salomon ultra 4

Another guided trail run. This time I was sweeping at the back so it was really very slow, with a fair amount of walking towards the end. Still enjoyable though.

By the end of the day I felt pretty wiped out. Even though the weekend didn't involve a whole lot of running I was still on my feet all day. Drove home in the evening (5hrs). Completely exhausted and legs aching when i got home.
