slept:7.0 shoes: Salomon speed 2

15’ easy + 60’ hilly fartlek + jog home
Usual hilly fartlek route around the woods. Pretty standard Saturday session - tired from the last few days at work. Not a bad session though, I just didn't have that extra gear I sometimes do. I think I just need more sleep. I'm still coughing a lot but generally healthy otherwise.

A pre-breakfast run around the lanes as it was very wet again. No particular issues. Fairy tired. 6 x strideouts.

Again, I didn’t sleep particularly well and woke up a while before my alarm. The ground was mainly frozen which made a nice change from the squelchy fields. I felt pretty good. Definitely ready for breakfast by the end. 6 x strideouts. I’m really pleased with how my hamstrings are coping with the moderates at the moment. Not even a tiny bit of tightness.

I didn't sleep well, probably because I'd overdosed on sleep the previous couple of nights. I'm still a bit bunged up so I waited until the afternoon to run by which time I was feeling a bit better. High Peak Trail. Good conditions. This session had some really good bits where I felt like I was flying along. I did feel a bit nauseous at times in response to minor smells, I'm not sure why. I run out of steam in the final half hour - I didn't eat or drink anything which usually isn't an issue in just 2 hours. I probably didn't eat enough this morning.

Feeling better again today, although still quite congested. I set off not quite knowing how I'd feel. I ran to the wood with the intention of doing the hilly fartlek if I felt ok. I still couldn't make up my mind during the warm up so I started the session. It took 12mins (3 hills) for me to decide that I didn't feel 100%. Legs a bit weak, breathing a bit heavy, non-specifically sub-optimal. I carried on at an easy pace and actually felt better as the run went on. I wonder if I'd waited until the afternoon to do the session I'd have been ok.

Running (easy) 1:09:00 [2] 8.1 mi (8:31 / mi) +152m 8:03 / mi
slept:10.0 shoes: Salomon soft ground

Having been in bed for the best part of 24hrs, I'm now feeling much better. Certainly not 100%, but by the afternoon I felt like I could try a run. I ran around Carsington Water, a local reservoir. A good, hard-packed trail, a few little hills but mainly flat. My legs felt empty to begin with but gradually felt more normal as the run went on. My breathing was more heavy than usual. 8 x strideouts during the final mile were actually pretty good.
I'm fairly confident I'll be ok for the session tomorrow.

Note
slept:7.0 (sick) (rest day)

I felt pretty rubbish at work last night. Flu-like symptoms - coryzal, achy, feverish, headache etc. I was hoping I'd feel better by the evening but I felt a lot worse. I assumed I'd have to go to work anyway but I was incredibly lucky to find a kind friend to cover for me. Went back to bed.
