Sunday Jan 21 #

8 AM

Fell Running 1:59:26 [3] 13.82 mi (8:39 / mi) +1928ft 7:38 / mi
shoes: x talon 212

Epic 2 hours on the fells with Marc, knee deep snow drifts in places so moving was a little slow but a great social. Couple of good climbs and a good chat but boy was it funny. Very snowy but surprisingly warm. Legs felt quite good considering the big week.

Grass Running warm up/down 28:04 [3] 4.26 mi (6:35 / mi) +250ft 6:14 / mi
shoes: x talon 212

Warm up and cool down for the session with Matty. Very cold.

Grass Running intervals 52:08 [5] 9.04 mi (5:46 / mi) +20ft 5:45 / mi
shoes: x talon 212

Session with Matty in the snow and ice. 2 mile tempo in 10:09 which felt pretty easy considering the conditions then 1,2,3,4,5,4,3,2,1 minute efforts off 90 seconds active recovery at 5 min/mile pace. Grass was awful, very boggy and and slushy with the snow making things difficult. Me and Matty worked well together and i enjoyed myself and felt i held my own against a 1:52 800m runner so that was positive. Very cold at the end of the session but overall a good hard session.

4 PM

Trail Running 1:00:33 [3] 8.76 mi (6:55 / mi) +486ft 6:34 / mi

Easy 60 minutes round the res(3 laps) after the journey home, very snowy and slippy. Legs felt pretty good.

Thursday Jan 18 #

2 PM

Road Running warm up/down 40:30 [3] 5.96 mi (6:48 / mi) +429ft 6:22 / mi
shoes: Hoka one one clayton 2

Warm up and down from the tempo run at the track. Wet and Windy.

Track Running tempo 15:19 [5] 3.12 mi (4:54 / mi) +26ft 4:52 / mi
shoes: Hoka one one clayton 2

5K tempo, flat out. Wet and windy track so that affected me slightly but felt great after my last exam. Starting to feel fast again and pretty comfortable whilst running fast. Splits were: 4:55, 4:56, 4:59 and a 29 for the last 200m. Happy days!

Wednesday Jan 17 #

2 PM

Road Running 1:04:44 [3] 9.46 mi (6:51 / mi) +887ft 6:17 / mi
shoes: Hoka one one clayton 2

Easy 65 minutes on the roads, pretty undulating but felt quite good, legs not too stiff from the track.

Tuesday Jan 16 #

3 PM

Road Running warm up/down 56:28 [3] 8.72 mi (6:29 / mi) +620ft 6:04 / mi
shoes: Hoka one one clayton 2

Warm up and Cool down from the track session, 20 minutes easy then planned 20 easy but left my keys at the track so had to run back which added 16 minutes to the cool down. Silly me.

Track Running intervals 29:28 [5] 5.58 mi (5:17 / mi) +170ft 5:08 / mi
shoes: Hoka one one clayton 2

Track session: 6 x 800m in 2:25-2:28 off 1 minute AR at 6:30min/mile. Then 6 x 200m in 30-32 off 30 seconds AR at 6:30min/mile. Legs felt good considering the awful wind and the wet conditions. Constantly battling with the wind but starting to feel fitter! Ran all reps continuously so from splits must have been moving well covering 5.6 mile in well under 30 minutes.

Monday Jan 15 #

8 AM

Road Running 1:09:42 [3] 10.76 mi (6:29 / mi) +758ft 6:04 / mi
shoes: Hoka one one clayton 2

High Steady 70 minutes round Bangor. Awful weather very wet and windy however quite warm and enjoyable as my legs felt good. Quite undulating on the roads with several short sharp climbs but managed to comfortably cruise up them with plenty in the tank.
