Running - trail and road long (Specific endurance) 3:01:56 [3] 22.0 mi (8:16 / mi) +501ft 8:06 / mi

Decided to head to Shane’s Castle Estate to check it out in advance of the marathon in a few weeks time. Mix of access roads and forest fire track. Quite flat and not technical at all hence the slightly faster pace than planned. Run went quite well but started to feel a bit heavy legged after about 2 hours. Wasn’t capable of increasing pace for the faster finish as just maintaining the same pace was a bit of a struggle. Don’t think I could have went too much further without fuelling. Pleased with the run overall though and a good 3 hrs on feet.

Got in to a nice settled pace after a couple of miles warming up on a cold day. Felt quite good and it seemed like a decent run.

Last run in Malta. Another early start but felt a bit better at the outset of this one compared to previous early morning runs. Tried to keep to a faster pace although this was difficult once I hit the coastal trails. These are a mixture of winding single track and rocky trails with a lot of undulation. Very windy today also. Was still fairly happy with this run though and it felt like a good moderate effort.

Easy run with speed variations on a mixture of road and rocky trails. As usual with me first thing in the morning it took quite a while to get going, in fact it took until the first speed variation to wake up. Quite a hilly route so all the bursts of speed were either uphill or downhill. Legs felt generally ok though.

Gym session followed by 40 min treadmill run. Felt back to normal today, no issues on the run.

Running - trail and road (Easy) 52:43 [2] 5.8 mi (9:05 / mi) +371ft 8:34 / mi

Another early start so I could spend the day with the family. Felt like I had wooden legs on this one, yesterday’s run plus the early start weren’t a good recipe! A bit looser towards the end and the 6 x strideouts also helped.
