Running - road (Easy) 1:48:30 [3] 13.81 mi (7:51 / mi) +435ft 7:38 / mi
slept:8.0

Very foggy today so stuck to main roads with footpaths on a circular route that I just made up as i went along. Felt quite tired at the outset and it took a few miles to get into a comfortable rhythm. Middle section felt quite good and then I tired again towards the end - the last 3 miles of the route are a gradual drag uphill along a long straight road.

Running - road (Easy) 22:46 [2] 2.86 mi (7:58 / mi) +117ft 7:40 / mi
slept:8.0

Warm up easy run. Nice night for running - cold, dry and not too much wind. Legs felt springy and fresh after not getting a run in yesterday.
Spent quite a while doing stretches, lunges, calf raises, leg swings and a few other movements before heading out.

Running - road (Intervals ) 38:15 [4] 5.58 mi (6:51 / mi) +166ft 6:40 / mi

5 x 1000m off 4 mins easy. Session went well and kept the 5 efforts at the same pace. Feeling good generally with no aches or pains.

Running - road (Easy) 15:29 [2] 1.94 mi (7:59 / mi) +88ft 7:39 / mi

Cool down easy run

Running - road (Moderate ) 1:11:02 [3] 10.01 mi (7:06 / mi) +544ft 6:45 / mi
slept:6.5

Club 10 mile run. Usual route around dark hilly country roads with head torches. Probably a bit faster than moderate pace overall due to the hills but felt fine and fairly strong from start to finish. I was a bit wary running this route as the last time I did it was when I started to feel my calf getting sore! No issues on that front at all though.

Slept a bit better the last couple of nights and really looking forward to finishing up work tomorrow for the Xmas break.

Treadmill (Easy + Tempo) 57:00 [4] 7.74 mi (7:22 / mi)
slept:6.5

16 easy + 3 x 10 min tempos off 2 mins + short cooldown. Was pushed for time tonight as I had to go to the school carol service so left work a little early and got straight on to the treadmill. I think this one is a good session to do on the treadmill as it allows me to maintain the same pace for each of the tempos. Had the treadmill set at 6:19 pace (& 1% incline as always). First two were ok but had to dig in during the last one and more than likely would have slowed down if I hadn’t been on the treadmill at a set pace. Pleased that I kept going at the same pace to the end during the last one as I was very tempted to slow down.

Running - road (Easy + speed variations ) 1:02:03 [3] 7.98 mi (7:47 / mi) +304ft 7:30 / mi
slept:6.0

Freezing cold and windy evening so not the most appealing but once I got wrapped up and out the door I felt really fresh and full of energy.

Did the run at an easy comfortable pace with 8 speed variations every 4 mins, starting after approx 20 mins when I had properly warmed up.

Did 3 sets of single legged calf raises before the run. I’m still not able to do any more than 20 in a single set. Stretched after.

Haven’t been sleeping particularly well the last week or so, waking up a lot during the night. Not sure why as I have been quite good at getting to bed at a decent time. Work is very busy this week ahead of the upcoming 2 week Christmas break although I don’t feel overly stressed out and it’s not affecting my runs. Looking forward to 17 days off though!

Turbo trainer (Workout ) 55:00 [2]
slept:7.0

Steady spin on the turbo. Legs have been feeling a bit tight in the quad area today after yesterday’s run. This has loosened them up.

Followed by foam rolling. Everything feeling ok.
