Mix of trail including a fairly steep hill, paths and roads. Felt much better on this run after getting a decent nights sleep.

Short run on my first day in Tenerife. Fairly warm and a bit breezy. Ran from the hotel down to the sea front, along the shore for a while and back again. Felt ok but didn’t really sleep last night so have been tired all day. Top of my left calf giving me a bit of bother again

Decided to cut this run short due to feeling light headed after about 2 miles. It was a strange feeling which may be due to the stressful week I have had trying to get as much done in work as I can prior to holiday.

Treadmill (Hill reps) 1:05:00 [4] 7.11 mi (9:09 / mi)

4 x 5 min hill reps with 15 easy either side. Decided to do the session on the treadmill as I didn’t get out of work until 6pm and it was dark so the trail I had thought of up at cavehill for the session would not have been suitable. Hopefully in a couple of weeks time it will work out as the evenings get longer. Ran the hill reps at 10% incline and approx 8:30 min mile pace. Found this fairly tough going and after getting through the first 3 ok, i had to slow the pace down about halfway through the fourth rep as I couldn’t maintain it.

Back to running at Mallusk playing fields. Decent evening with not much wind and fairly mild and dry. The pain I had felt at the top of my left calf had mainly disappeared when I woke up today and was only a mild sensation at the start of the run. Hoping it’s nothing. Felt good at the start of the run and a nice feeling of being light and nimble on my feet. Good to run on the grass again. Did the 8 diagonals on a football pitch at the halfway mark at a controlled pace. Tired a little during the second half of the run. Got about 15 mins of daylight before I had to turn the headtorch on but enjoyed being back on familiar turf!

slept:7.0 (rest day)

Rest day as planned. Still feeling the pain on the back of my right leg at the very top of the calf. Have applied voltarol and self massaged.
Otherwise feeling quite jaded, a busy day in work and a busy week ahead as I have to fit a lot in before taking next week off on holiday
