Running 45:00 [3] 8.0 km (5:38 / km)

Test jog. On the whole annoying "pinch" in glute has gone for now (after massage? rest?), but feet / ankles sore (tarmac?). Was able to try 100, 200 and 300 step surges (about 230m, 460m and 710m), followed by a 1Km and 1.5Km effort with no glute problems. Tried new shoes (NB 880) after having seen podiatrist in morning, but didn't use orthotics since I wanted to feel what they were like without first. Quite nice but feet/ankles aching now.

Rest (what a good girl am I). Some massaging of glute area/hip eased some of the aches; perhaps progress. More evidence that 'doing nothing' isn't the answer; probably massage helping but must be careful not to overdo it in piri area since that doesn't help!

Rest. Just in case it feels better for having done so. Plus was sick in morning (from cashew spread?) so made it easy to do nothing! [Note: rest didn't really help; outer buttock still a problem when transfer weight on it (while on all-4s or bent over especially), and randomly painful when stepping in and out of bed/car, just extending leg back and tensing glutes etc. ]

Nice flat 6km jog exploring Smithfield Plains; felt reasonable (not perfect) in buttock so tried 5 laps of jogging the bends and striding the straights at Vincent Rd track to see what could tolerate, then 5 x 200m at lot slower. Could produce some power without irritation but not full out and not sustained. (Still working on quads since they have something to do with it, but not whole story).

Continuous jogging today trying to keep buttock happy. Explored Sambel Road and fire track. Tried some 20 step hard/easy surges but abandoned after worried was going to irritate buttock too much. Foam rolling the quad/groin really seemed to help at home.

Walked/jogged 12km with 2km jogging after 2.5Km and then last 6km continuous jogging, very slow. Harder effort for last 1.5Km but buttock didn't like going 'fast' (4:40 pace) so had to ease off. Not sure if ready to run or not.

Starting to enjoy this sleeping-in thing! Hip-buttock again improved today. More massage to right leg and think I found and released some knots. Tempted to jog/walk but it rained, so did more rolling, ice-heat and massage. Also found some tight spots in oblique muscles that could be pulling on RHS buttock. (Think that the RHS inner groin is getting stress from landing on the outer aspect of right foot; and tightness/stress in groin is creating stress/overuse/knots in the outer right buttock; if so should probably stretch groin/flexors before/after any running and check for knots. Also orthotics might make it worse and push me more to the outer aspect of foot?).
