First 10 controls were good, slow but navving pretty well. Poor route choice approaching 10, the open wasn't as runnable as hoped for. Control 11 was a long leg, and all went well apart from the final approach, where vague forest and a lack of precise contact with the map cost me.
This shook my confidence a bit and led to second-guessing myself on the next few legs and losing a bit of time until Joe Thomas caught me up at 15.I trained him around the open bit, but lost him as we entered the woodland in the long leg to 18. Made a very poor route choice and decided to go straight, which included going through the darker green areas and undergrowth, so lost a load of time there.
Control 20 was my last mistake, as I lost ~5 minutes looking for an open area that contained 5-6 foot bracken. Lesson here was to trust your compass not the runnability of open ground..
Very technical area, lots of mistakes (totalling ~15 minutes) and just not feeling very fit or fast in the area.
