"Quali" O training at Temple Newsam
Got the Purple pen scale wrong so the 8km course was actually 4km, so pace was a bit naff. Nav was good though, kept good contact with map. Also tore my legs to shreds in the brambles.

Orienteering 17:20 [4] 3.9 km (4:27 / km) +33m 4:16 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-talons G210 (blue)

"Final" O training at Temple Newsam (Colton Village)
Reran the Fat Rascal course from last year. 45 secs slower, but kept good contact with the map and I had fresh legs last year (was the prologue)

Taken a couple of days off to let blisters fully heal and just to have a bit of a break as I gear up towards the Lakes Reloaded weekend.

Run warm up/down 12:55 [2] 2.5 km (5:10 / km)
shoes: NVII Forest 1

WU to Start

Orienteering 1:34:50 [3] 11.5 km (8:15 / km) +11m 8:12 / km
shoes: NVII Forest 1

Running the Skipwith Common brown map that I missed a couple of weeks ago & learning how to use a right handed compass.
Controls 3 and 4 were dreadful, and I realised i wasn't checking the map /keeping contact as regularly as I should do (but I glanced down to my empty left hand...). For the rest of the course I slowed down, stayed methodical and improved my right-handed nav technique and saw gradual improvements.
Feet/ground/socks were dry so blisters formed halfway through which was grim.

Orienteering warm up/down 26:00 [3] 2.65 km (9:49 / km)
shoes: NVII Forest 1

Re running controls 3 & 4 to improve confidence with nav. Still a bit of a navigational black box in the middle of the map, but was closer than first attempt

Monday Sep 14 #

Fell Run 2:06:30 [3] 19.3 km (6:33 / km) +414m 5:55 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-talons G210 (blue)

Nice Ladybower/Howden/Back Tor loop with Alice. Great run out (bit longer than planned)
