Grisedale Horseshoe Fell Race.
First big (AM) fell race so didn't really know how I would do. Was 122nd man and 8th MU23 (out of 9). Started ok up the climbs up to Catsye Cam (cp 1) but was slower than others on the flatter bits and got shown up by people blasting passed me as I couldn't take the stoney downhill path to the bottom of the Swirrall edge climb as fast as others. Then got stuck in the traffic going up Swirrall to cp 2 and only managed to overtake a few people. I think I held position going along the ridge and to Grisedale Tarn (cp 3) but was taking slightly less climby lines so not entirely sure. Was able to grind out a run for most of the way up to St Sunday Crag (cp 4) so managed to pick off a few people and only lost a bit of ground dropping down to cp 5. Calves started seizing/crapping at one point but that went away after a bit of running slightly differently. Then the last steep climb up to cp 6; climbing well and managed to overtake a few people but struggled on the run down to the finish with a fat blister on the underside of my left heel which I thought was some grit or something. Had great weather and some cracking views from the Helvellyn ridge and had great fun.
