Rolling along the lake from Bowness to Ambleside at an easy pace (still managed a 21min 10km!), then ambling around a little lowering my hr before finally attacking the struggle. My hr shot up to above 190, despite planning to keep it at max 185 for the duration, (pretty much on threshold I think). I foolishly thought that it would be alright as I was feeling fine, about a minute later I can assure you I wasn't and suffered from this initial effort for the rest of the climb. I kept pushing the best I could and was able to get a little recovery on the flat section near the end, but my legs were shot by then anyway. I was probably quite a sight at the end wobbling around on my bike before plonking myself onto a bench. I tried my best but probably more to come on this one with better pacing. I didn't have enough gears for the descent into Windermere, but probably safer this way. Lower back hurting again by the end, Dad said he saw a chiropractor in his early 20s and has been fine since, maybe I need to see one.

The struggle: 21:53, VAM 1066 for the whole climb (first km at 1347), 65% off an insane Rohan Dennis effort who has the KOM at 13:07, 389m climb over 4.6km at 8.4%
