LOC Summer Series - Boo Tarn

Routechoice decisions were the main issue today. Execution wasn't great at points either especially at 7 but my big time losses were due to bad routechoices at 4, 5, 6, 7 and 14. The general theme was going round for cleaner running or reduced climb and just ending up adding unnecessary distance and the going didn't actually end up being much nicer. Wasn't being decisive enough and often overthinking fairly simple decisions. When faced with lots of climb or thick veg like bracken I think these things often become too prominent in my decision making when they really don't need to be and cloud otherwise simple decisions. Straight was really the answer today and in future I just need to have that clarity that straight is generally a good option and if I'm in doubt I just need to not overthink and go with that straight routechoice. I also did try to go straight to 14 which cost me a chunk of time as I had to hack through a lot of bracken but I'm less annoyed about this as it would've been the best option without the bracken. In future just need to be a bit more adaptable and if I see a runnable line to the right when the bracken is like this I should just take it and not be so wary of changing my plan. Early time losses also meant Woodley caught me at 8 and I lead for a couple controls before he hit the front on the descent. Lead changed a few times as he messed up 12 then I lost time at 14 and then it was just a burn up to the finish on the flat marshy section. Was good fun and I only got dropped a little bit. Legs very much not recovered from Ennerdale yet.
