Running 37:00 [3]
shoes: Trail Attacks 12'10

A potter round Blaise. I bumped into Matt who told me the good news - the three cows that we thought had become burger meat are back! They must have been taken to a lush field for a winter vacation (junior is not so small anymore!).

Orienteering race 31:16 [5] *** 5.1 km (6:08 / km) +170m 5:15 / km
19c shoes: Inov8 oroc 280

British Middle Champs, Worth Lodge (near Crawley).
2nd :) I had a good run with the right mix of running hard and staying in control. The area was fairly un-technical so there was a bit of pressure to have a clean run. I tried to be safe where I could eg. aiming off and this meant I lost no more than 10-15secs on any of the legs. Was nice to have a good run and I enjoyed the course and terrain (I can say I'm fairly used to this type of terrain now that I'm a southerner). Great run by Claire, I couldn't have run her time!
Results for Sprint and Middle Champs

2nd place, 24secs behind Claire. It was a good fun uni campus sprint and I was happy with my run.

Orienteering race 15:10 [5] *** 2.2 km (6:54 / km) +75m 5:53 / km
23c shoes: Trail Attacks 12'10

British Sprint Champs Final, Sussex University.
5th place. A bit disappointed with this result, another sprint where I was 'close but not good enough'. The course was a bit trickier than the heats which meant it was really fun. I was going well (in 2nd) until leaving c8 when I decided to try reading ahead and considered the c10-c11 leg. I think I subconsciously navigated to c10 and was nearly there when I saw control 9 on the map and realised I hadn't been there! That's what happens when I try to read ahead. I went back and got c9, but was a bit flustered so took a longer route to c10, missing the obvious cut-through. All this cost 26secs. The rest was ok except I must have chosen the wrong left/right choice to c19 as I lost 10secs on that one. Finished 10secs off 3rd *sigh*
It was a great day though, I really do like sprint orienteering - it's my favourite kind... just wish I could run faster!

Running warm up/down 25:00 [2]
