Sunday Jul 21 #

Running 35:00 [3] 5.79 km (6:03 / km)

From the swimming lake, Lac des Montagne, around some lanes and logging roads.

1 PM

Running 1:40:00 [3] 13.86 km (7:13 / km)

Long run from Labrespy. Was a pretty cool run along some old old paths, down through a medieval village, up and over a big forested hill then back along more ancient paths. But unfortunately I got quite thirsty early on, which doesn't often happen. Then I got really really thirsty. I even drank water from a trough at a farm I ran through (the water was running!). Luckily I have a super strong stomach :) I was pretty spent by the end, just as well it was overcast and not sunny.
I'm trying to run out my injury but it's not working. Leg is still quite sore but now my left hip is clicking non-stop!

Friday Jul 19 #

Bit of a no-frills day driving across France from the Alpes to a tiny hamlet called Labrespy near Mazamet in the 'Montagne Noire'. The journey took all day, with stops.

Thursday Jul 18 #

3 PM

Running 1:21:00 [3] 8.62 km (9:24 / km)

From Risoul Station - ran a loop that was undulating for the first half and then climbed steeply towards Crete de Razis later on. I got as close as 1km away from the cable car at the top but only had 5mins until the last ride at 4.15. Too late, due to a detour around some scary cows earlier in the run, and getting lost part way up. I was able to take a different track down the mountain a fair bit, then get a different chairlift with last ride at 4.30. I got there at 4.25 and who was about to go down? Matt and the girls, with Daisy one shoe short after dropping it into the forest on the way up :/

Tuesday Jul 16 #

Spent the first part of the day up at a col, doing a walk (part-way) to a lake, then having a good explore of Fort Queyras which was really cool.
4 PM

Running 1:19:00 [3] 10.48 km (7:32 / km)

Ran up to Risoul Station again, just because it was the easiest (closest) thing to do and I wouldn’t have to memorise a new route. This time I got up in 39mins (4.13km) without the wrong turns. I came across a little copper-coloured snake on my way up, about 1.5 feet long, which was unexpected!
From the top, I took a dirt road that zig-zagged across a different spur all the way back down.

3 PM

Running 1:38:00 [3] 13.62 km (7:12 / km)

Ran up to Risoul Station from our accommodation. Took a few wrong turns but got there after 42mins (5.16km). Then I had planned to run an 8km loop but got lost and ultimately still ran 8km but ran down a road and up, then along a path and back. Heather and Matt were waiting at the car at Risoul Station.
