Running 8:30:00 [3] 50.5 km (10:06 / km) +1976m 8:27 / km

Mt Bimberi (ACT's highest mountain, 1913m) with Shannon and Rebecca Minty. Shannon had hatched the idea and planned everything really well, so it was easy for me to tag along on the day! We had some troubles with a locked gate on the drive in, 7km from our destination - the park had been closed up until 11.59 the day before but should have been open all of Saturday. Luckily we only lost 20-30mins thinking about our options when a parks person tuned up and unlocked the gate! So we set off a bit later than planned at 8am. The run in to the Cotter River crossing (15km) went well, and then we continued on the fire trail up to Murray's Gap and then followed the light pad/cairned route to the summit. We walked this section and any steep fire trail sections.
The views were amazing and we had a nice lunch stop on top. Then back down the hill for the return journey. The weather was a little overcast in the morning but fairly sunny by the afternoon. It was very still which meant we didn't get too cold, though I still wore a thermal all day.
We all started to get a bit achy towards the end but all held up pretty well I think! The daylight had nearly gone by the time we reached the cars (around 5.40pm) so it was perfect timing :)
A really fun adventure in the beautiful bush with friends. Will remember this day for sure!
