So, a visit to the Ferring Beach cafe made the foray back into the world of running far too tempting. Having been set a time to meet Simon at 12:45 at the cafe, I decided to set out at 11:30 and do a 5mile walk/jog to try out my ankle. Surely I must be able to gently cover 5 miles in an hour so that I was back in time to meet up.
A bit of a headwind going towards Worthing made me feel a little laboured but the ankle seemed to be ok. A guy passed me coming up to 2 miles and I found myself trying to keep up with him to my turning point shortly after the pier. I was feeling good and I knew that I had a tailwind coming back so I wasn't going to let up. A slight soreness kicked in at mile 3 and I thought that I'd just run to 4 miles and then walk. Could I do that? No, I ran to 5 miles, and although I knew I probably hadn't done myself any favours, it was soooo good to be out running again.
Ankle been resting on frozen peas for the last hour or so.
