mountain marathon race 3:58:15 [5] ***** 13.86 mi (17:11 / mi) +1170m 13:37 / mi
spiked:10/19c shoes: VJ XTRM

KONG mini mountain marathon round 1-Capel Curig: I am now truley and utterly exhausted. After the 0.5 mile walk to regisatration and then a further 1 mile walk from there to the start I felt relativley confident both in a navigation perspective and additionally a fitness perspective. Starting at 9:58am the first controls flew by with ease, arguably because both contols were on a large straight path and required little to no navigational experience. As Dad and I gained altitude it become clear the snow was going to become more and more challenging throughout the course. Control number 20 going to 23 was where the snow became truly difficult. Trampling through, what In summer would be a bog, but now knee deep snow seemed to drain my energy more than I have ever experienced. This control that should've taken 15minutes at most took over 30 minutes purley because of the deep snow leading to it. Number 14 was a navigational mess on my behalf. This control that should of been much simpler became a mess mostly because of my immense lack of energy and concentration as a result of traipsing through the snow on controls prior. Dad and I lost so much time here its almost a tragedy. After number 14 we had somewhat give up and just wanted to head back, which we ultimately did. Heading back the same way we had come at the start of the race we managed to collect 2 more controls and got back to the finish with 2 minutes to spare. After taking a solid 40 minutes to get changed and warm up we had a deeply indulgent and tasteful soup and a cake at download. I think we came about 61st out of 240+ but I'm not certain. It was great day out in the welsh mountains to be honest.

Running 30:32 [3] ** 3.61 mi (8:27 / mi) +127m 7:37 / mi
shoes: X-tallon 225

Run down to Satnall hills with fly. Went to the left of Broc hill down a little path opposite the cliffs. It was a good route to get to the German cutting quicker without having to go to the top of Broc hill.

partially pathless contour training on Satnall hills with fly. Navigation felt spot on ahead of the kong round 1 tomorrow.
Also saw mountain rescue training today.

Fitness/navigation: both feel fine.

Running 40:00 [1]

Didn't bother taking the watch today. Just ran around Walton fields. It was cold but I still felt quick.

shoes: X-tallon 190

Somebody said I run too much today, so I went running with fly and saw a dog lit up like a Christmas tree in a field.
On a fitness related point, I felt alright but it was quite cold and going dark fast!

Running 36:00 [2] ** 4.9 mi (7:21 / mi) +160m 6:40 / mi

It was cold, icy and perfectly clear tonight. Summiting Brocton from the golf course side, I saw 1000+ dear. Their eyes somewhat sprakling like crystals in the beam of my headtouch. As for the stars, they glistened above me. They seemed to be the only thing besides me producing any light on the dark of Cannock Chase.

As for my fitness, it was acceptable despite having some pain in my knee and a terrible feeling that I had eaten to much, I felt alright, not quick, but I didn't and couldn't care much as it was only a steady Wednesday run.

Ultimately, another good night run on the wild darkness on cannock case. Might have a recovery day tomorrow, but I doubt that highly.

Running 1:20:00 [2] ** 8.0 mi (10:00 / mi) +186m 9:20 / mi
shoes: VJ XTRM

Evening run with Hol. It was dark and deeply wet with a misty and bleak cold, but I still felt somewhat healthy and fit, which is always a positive. The VJ XTRM shoes are still feeling amazing as always and my knee began to hurt a slight amount at 5 mile, but nothing to worry about. overall, it was another reasonable cold, evening run.

Running (post-dinner) 18:27 [3] * 3.11 mi (5:56 / mi) +36m 5:44 / mi
shoes: Adizero adios 3

Decided to go for a run 10 minutes after having a reasonably large dinner alongside a Oreo donut for dessert. Was it a good idea? Both yes and no. But undoutably it sawyer more to the no. yes I got a reasoanbly good run in, which is always a positive, I felt the food I had 10 minutes previous was most certainly a factor in, not a slow time, but not a fast one either. But ultimately, yes, it was a reasonably good run.
