Springtime in Shropshire, Stapeley and Rorrington.
Did not enjoy this one bit. Despite most of the area being super runnable, I didn't spend much time running due to my current complete inability to travel uphill. I swear this planner must be a psychopath because some of these legs were really unnecessarily nasty, but I won't complain too much as some people got around the course in very respectable times, so maybe I was suffering disproportionately.
Did manage to take the big win over David Dunn though, which we love to see

Slow spin over Long Mynd and surrounding hills with Dad, post O race. Thoroughly enjoyed the climb and the roads along the top and very glad to go down Asterton Bank instead of up it, don't think the 40/28 would have got me up what must be 600m at 20%. The little lanes after this were a bit too gravelly really and we both got punctures which was a shame.

Certainly glad I brought the bike because I couldn't justify coming all the way to Shropshire just for one of the most unpleasant O races of my life.

Pleasant loop out north west with dad, featuring 1 accidental gravel sector where the road was being resurfaced by Yelford. Shame a lot of the roads were quite busy, but a nice change to have a wheel to sit on and a riding partner who isn't afraid to crack out the Tri bars at 21kph. Marginal gains n dat.
Also very much enjoyed finishing with 10km of going full beans very slightly downhill.

Evening control pick at Nettlebed with Colm. Probably found almost all of the control sites but I wasn't hanging around too much to check with no flags out.
Warm one as well, absolute day for it

Nettlebed truly has the best nettles, you get that nice tingle in the evening but it doesn't drift into itchiness. Very impressed

Return to Streatley Hill plus the lanes behind it. Borderline bonk on the way home into the headwind. Ended up going through Didcot which was a mistake. Settlements can get in the bin.
