Scottish Relays - a win!
After a slightly slower #1 I worked hard to catch up the front pack of Phil, Spongey and Eddie and then basically went round with Phil leading the train for most of it, just taking some nicer lines in a couple of places.
Then came #19 where me and Eddie both felt we'd gone too far when we hit the other gaffle so doubled back incorrectly. Idk why, but even now I maintain that it felt like a really long way, so kinda not too annoyed with myself. The actual mistake was relying solely on distance to know when to turn in and not using any of the features kindly placed on the map for my use.
Came in ~2min down with big Ed, but thanks to class runs from Gooch and Wozzle the boys pulled through for an unlikely victory! Great end to my domestic EUOC career

Scottish Champs - 5th
A race of three halves today. Started well apart from a 30s headscratcher to #1 and was happy with my first 45 mins on the nice runnable rolling part of the area. Pretty clean and proactive orienteering, the main thing slowing me down being that I was careful to not roll an ankle since I hadn't managed to source any tape beforehand. Ridiculous, might have to start buying my own at this rate.
Then was caught by GG and Luke at #21 and basically just hug on for as long as I could while we swept up wozzle and Eddie. Forgot to punch #28 and lost the pack here, then sorted of booked and also made a mess of #30 before chuntering home.

Hot take: I don't think I even had a net gain from being caught, as lost ~90s due to being so gubbed once I was dropped. And turns out I was 4th before being caught anyway, so although my post race quote was that I just followed GG, I am actually happy with the orienteering I did as well.
