MOCKS start tomorrow so unfortunately cutting down on training which is a bummer cuz I’m starting to enjoy running more.

Southern Orienteering Championships

Alright run quite a few pickled controls here and there. Overall quite tired from yesterday so alottttt slower pace but also triple the climb so expected. Southern champ woo didn’t really like area or course much though took us straight down then straight up thankssss.

2-running too fast but somehow got v distracted and didn’t go nearly far enough. Worked out where I was and took a new ap into control.
5-dodgy route also thought contours were straight up but actually straight down so lovely pleasant surprise.
7- bit too low.
10- too far down marsh so waded up to control.
12-welllll not sure why but I have tendency to drift uphill obviously gravity doesn’t affect me. Eventually found control snuggled in a holly bush.
13- had a wee bit of help ta.
14- too steep couldn’t go v fast at all.
16- came in slightly too early but only lost a couple of seconds.

Southern Night Championships

Big improvements on SE nights felt pretty fast and technically goodish. It was quite dark so hard to see a few controls but overall pretty happy. Think I won.

2- went cross country which was a bloody awful idea bracken came up to my neck. Made sure I stayed on paths after that.
14- got a bit disorientated as hard to see paths on mown grass but muddled my way there after relocating.
16- has to be one mare I guess. Managed to find marsh but then didn’t know where I was on it and really slow moving as tussocky and soggy but found it eventually.
* banana honey and peanut butter sandwich 2 hrs before works wonders for energy levels.

Kent Night Cup. 20 controls did the strangest route possible need to think more before running off. Had attack points in mind thanks to the v helpful comments ta and pretty solid finding them. 2 controls were a bit dodge (5 mins) made a few distance judgement errors but an improvement on the last night-O :)

3 sets of 5 300m (miss out one). Pretty consistent pace for me and bombed last one woo. Have a creaky ligament in my toe but niggle in other foot better woo.
