3hrs Specific Endurance

Got out in the morning before heading south for Jura. Great morning to be on the hills. Ran from the house before taking in a rough climb to the summit of Carn mor Dearg, dropped down and over the a CMD arête (some more rough technical running) before climbing onto the Ben. Resorted to some hands on knees hiking for a few of the steeper/ rougher sections - felt to be pushing on quite hard for the whole run in general though. Descented the Ben via the race route to avoid the train of tourists coming up... took this descent pretty steady.
I took on board 2 gels, a longhaul food sachet and 1litre of water in total. Felt like I was flagging in the last 30 mins and was wishing I had taken more food with me.... A lesson for the next SE session.

20’ Easy + 3 x Tri circuits + 20’ Easy

The back is feeling good again after a decent nights sleep. No issues with it today.
A heatwave has hit Lochaber. 20+ degrees today! I used the same section of trail as usual, very dry underfoot which helped. Pushed hard on all 3. Tough going by the final one, probably in part due to the heat. As usual I enjoyed the descending a lot more than the ascending, felt like a good session though.

The weather was too good not to stay outside and make the most of it so did a bit of scrambling and walking in the evening. Cracking evening to be out. Plan to head over to Jura tomorrow eve.

45’ Easy + strideouts
Easy trail run from work. Took this very easy as feeling quite tired after another day on the chainsaw. Felt some soreness in my back again too (although not as bad as Wednesday).
A few days off work over Easter now. Weather is looking cracking for Jura over the weekend too!

60’ Moderate

Ran from the house out along the canal and back. Moving fairly well but some stiffness in my back after a full day on the chainsaw at work. Loosened up during the run and felt better after about 30 mins.

60’ Easy + hill sprints

Easy on the trails in Glen Nevis, all fairly flat again. Hill sprints at approx 30 mins on a well packed trail. Bumped into the clubs usual Tuesday night run on my way back so tagged along with them for the last 20 mins.

45’ Easy + strideouts

Easy on the trails in Glen Nevis, keeping it fairly flat. Very windy in places but nice evening to be out. Got carried away on one small 200m descent chasing a strava segment... but otherwise all very comfortable and relaxed. Finished with 6x strideouts. Legs seem to be recovering well from the weekend.

2hr30’ Easy

Ran from the house before hitting the trail and onto the hill. Took in a big climb up to the summit of Carn Mor Dearg, easy going with a small bit of hiking near the top where some crazy winds made it very difficult to run. Pretty cold on the top so didn’t hang around long. Took in a quite techy descent into the coire below before getting into a good comfortable rhythm once out the wind.
The last 4k was run a bit harder than the rest. I’d arranged to be back by 2 and time was ticking so pushed on a bit.
Really enjoyable run minus the wind. Legs feeling some tiredness from yesterday on the climb but felt fine on the descent. A bit of tightness in quads but no major issues.
