Mountain race 1:11:25 [5] 15.1 km (4:44 / km) +962m 3:35 / km
shoes: Adidas Terrex agravic speed

Snowdon race
A fast start. Perhaps got a bit carried away by the great atmosphere and support on the streets of Llanberis... hit the start of the main mountain path and eased off the pace a bit realising I wasn’t going to be able to maintain the initial tempo. Settled into a good sustainable rhythm after this, pushing a bit harder on the slightly flatter sections of trail. Clung onto Ewan Brown and stuck on his shoulder for the whole climb, summering a few seconds after him, before he flew away on the descent not to be seen again... enjoyed the descent a lot more than the climb and felt I had a good descent myself. A lot of tourist dodging and runner dodging... don’t think I lost any places on the descent. Hit the final road section back into Llanberis and caught a glimpse of a runner a few 100m or so ahead, pushed hard to get the overtake coming into the finishing field.
Great experience running in such a competitive field. Ran 01:22 in 2017 so nice get a big Pb with 01:11. Definitely a race to return to in the the future in attempt to go sub 68!

Easy + strideouts
A good leg stretcher with James once arrived in Llanberis. Headed out on the first part of the race route. Hiked the steep road climb and gently jogged everything else. Strides to finish

20’ easy + 2x Tri circuits + 20’ easy

Another nice lochaber evening. Pushed hard on the climbs, perhaps a bit too hard on the first one causing the 2nd climb to feel a bit harder. Felt like I was climbing well though. Made a conscious effort to ease off a touch more than usual on the descents, not wanting to do anything stupid before Saturday. Good session.

Monday Jul 15 #

Trail 1:01:00 [1] 12.1 km (5:02 / km) +128m 4:47 / km
shoes: Salomon S-lab Sense SG

60’ easy + 6x hill sprints

Nice easy trot along the forestry trails in Glen Nevis. Another nice night to be out. Hill sprints at halfway on quite a gentle hill with a good rolling start. Enjoy these sprints, felt good

Easy 1hr 30'

A cracker of a day to be out. Started on some of the forestry trails along Loch Lochy before taking in a gentle climb up Meall na Teanga and back along the ridge. All very easy, not pushing the pace at all. Hot day so took on a lot of water. Legs feeling good. Looking forward to getting back racing next weekend.
