80’ moderate
All on the canal path for this, much the same as last Saturdays session. A bit windy at times but otherwise some cracking conditions in the afternoon sun. Moving along nicely; felt like a pretty consistent intensity for the duration

Friday Feb 26, 2021 #

20’ easy + 20’ uphill tempo + easy down

A different hill than the last 2 of these sessions. Used a good landrover track which winds up to a mast on top of the hill. Roughy 6% gradient so very runnable allowing me to keep good control on the intensity.
Only downside was one cattle grid to cross and a gate to get through which momentarily interrupted the rhythm but otherwise seemed a good hill for the session.
Not feeling quite as strong on the climbing right now compared to last summer but I’m sure it’ll soon come back once I get some more hills in the legs

60’ moderate + strides
Same route as last weeks 60’ moderate. Out and back along the shore, getting battered a bit by the wind again. Legs didn’t feel quite as fresh as last week but on the whole another good controlled run. Strides to finish

50’ easy + hill sprints
Run from the door. Hamstring feeling more comfortable today. Planned to abandon the hill sprints if I felt any discomfort in the hammy when doing them but it felt totally fine so did a set of six. Did these on the road with a rolling start, felt good with a decent recovery between each.

Easy 50’
Late finish at work and feeling quite tired. Kept it flat along the river and a bit on the canal. Left hammy (medial) feeling sore so gave strideouts a miss

A run from the door, largely on the trails with the odd road section to link up the different trails. Shorts and t-shirt weather, feeling like spring is on its way.
Ran with friend Fraser; good to have some company, his first longish run in quite a while. All very comfortable effort wise
