One of those rare good weather days in the highlands with wall to wall sunshine. Too good not to get up into the hills.
4 new munros, taking in a loop of the western Fannichs. Some rough pathless terrain in the first half made it feel a bit slow going but some nice running over the last two tops. Didn’t feel like the legs had a huge amount in them on the climbing so kept it fairly steady. Left foot was feeling quite uncomfortable on the final top but turned out to be just a bad blister... uncomfortable enough to make me walk the final descent though. Seems okay on the flat.

I’ll keep it easy / moderate tomorrow then hopefully get another SE in as planned on Monday

Easy + 3 x one mile hill reps + easy

On a different hill for the session today. Some easy running initially scouting out the best section of the trail to use. All on a fairly decent landrover track, very runnable but slightly rougher underfoot compared to last weeks session. Track started to flatten out a bit towards the top but still worked out at about 100m of climb per rep.

Weather is looking really good tomorrow before getting wintery again on Sunday and Monday. So thinking of making the most of the sun and getting in a long run on the hills before the weather turns.

60' easy + strides

Evening run from the house taking in a loop up through the woods. Some strides on the final run back in. All fine

20' uphill tempo

Same hill as last week on the little wyvis trail. Some grim weather made the tempo a bit more challenging with some added wind resistance for a lot of the climb. Didn't make it quite as far up the hill in the 20' compared to last week but I think the wind had a part to play in that.
Continued on at an easier pace for another 5' or so to reach the summit before an easy run back down

Easy + hill sprints

Loop from the house, out to the canal and up into the woods. Enjoying some extra daylight in the evenings. Legs feeling much better than yesterday, although they didn’t have that feeling of being 100% fresh on the sprints. Left hip has been feeling a bit tight all day but it didn’t cause any bother on the run.

Easy + strides

Feeling tired after work so took a short sleep before heading back out for the run. All pretty flat. Legs feeling a bit heavy but better after some strides at the end

2hrs 30 SE - no fuelling

Popped down the road to the Cairngorms, still looking very white up on Cairngorm itself and across the plateau so ran on the lower hills instead to get a better quality run in.
Some decent trail for the first couple of k then mostly techy and rougher trail from there on, taking in a couple loops up and over Meall a Bhuachaille.
Very windy as soon as you gained any height and legs feeling quite tired on all the climbing - not too surprising after yesterday's hill reps. Kept the descending and flatter stuff fairly steady. Energy levels feeling a bit depleted in last 45' or so but otherwise a good run.
