Wednesday Feb 28

Running 49:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus
Standard Willans Hill run

Tuesday Feb 27

Running 1:15:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus
Arvo run to Plumpton Hill and back, still nice and overcast after this mornings rain

Monday Feb 26

Running (Recovery) 40:00 [2] 4 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Track still closed, meant to be open next week.
Another enjoyable session thou. Long warm up around Jubilee, followed by stretching.

Resistance work today, first we did some short sprints with a mini parachute tied to our waists which felt really weird (and probably looked a bit strange!!) and then two people ran together in a harness, this was a lot harder than it looked and hurt!!

Long cool down around Jubilee and more stretches

Sunday Feb 25

Running 1:35:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Morning run along the Rail Trail starting in Beechworth. Legs were feeling pretty heavy from yesterdays efforts and was a bit tired from being woken at 2am by the smoke alarm.

Trent came down from Albury for lunch at the bakery and then we checked out Woolshed Falls, they were not surprisinly non-existent, just a small trickle of water over the rocks :(

Saturday Feb 24

Running 56:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus
Morning run from Trents along the bike track to the Murray and along it for a bit
Orienteering 51:00 [3] 6 km (8:30 / km)
shoes: Jalas - old
Club training weekend at Beechworth. Course around the gorge. Nav pretty well, made a couple of small errors towards the end, map was a lot steeper than I remembered!
Orienteering 49:00 [3] 5 km (9:48 / km)
shoes: Jalas - old
Another course around the gorge, lots short legs in the detailed rocks so had to keep my concentration up. Struggled towards the end, due to 3rd run of the day and starting to warm up after the morning rain
Note
Had a nice stroll around La Trobe at Beechworth, putting out controls for the night O

Friday Feb 23

Running 1:09:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus
Morning plumpton/redbank loop, first 25mins were in the dark which was interesting.

Off to Albury tonight and then down to Beechworth for out club training (social) weekend.

Thursday Feb 22

Running 39:00 [3]
shoes: Nike Air Zoom
Easy morning run around the Lake
Orienteering race (Street O) 43:00 [4] 8.7 km (4:57 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Back in the old neighbourhood, Glenfield Park street O. Started off slow again this week but felt better as the run went on. 165 points this week and a win, Dad decided not to run this week, guess he peaked last week with his 5 point win.

Wednesday Feb 21

Running 49:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus
First run in the rain in a long time!!
Had a pretty noisy thunder and lightning storm this arvo (with some rain!!) Got home from work to a house with no power, so what to do but run!!
Did the standard Willans run, and got nice and wet and muddy (does it sound like I enjoyed myself?) Thou some of the lightning strikes were a bit too close for comfort.

Tuesday Feb 20

Running 1:16:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Was not really looking forward to this run, when I left home it was an unpleasant 35 degrees (spent a lot of the arvo drinking water in preparation). Took my iPod with me in the hope to distract myself, worked for most of the run, but I slowed a bit on the home straight. Overall it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, well I was still standing!!

Monday Feb 19

Running (Recovery) 40:00 [2] 4 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Planned to go back to intervals today as the track was meant to be re-opened, got there to find that had been vandilised over the weekend so was shut again!!

Mark ran a good easy/recovery session thou.
Long warm up around the park, followed by some dynamic stretching and drills. Then did some short sprints with hand weights and then a few more drills.
Long cool down around the park.

Enjoyable and very social session!!

Sunday Feb 18

Running long 1:48:00 [3] 21 km (5:09 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Tried to beat the heat today, but it hit me during the last 20mins of the run, apart from that felt pretty good, not running too fast and keeping a constant pace. Did the loop around Wagga for something different, but think I ran it the wrong way round as it was rather painfull coming back over Red Hill.
Note
Spent 1.5hours in arvo walking around the Uni working out control sites for the sprint, was so so hot!! O week starts this week so lots of people out setting up and giving us weird looks!

Saturday Feb 17

Running race 25:56 [5] 5.6 km (4:38 / km) vdot: 42.2
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
First Road Runners for the year. From Wagga Beach and along the sunny, open and hot levee banks, was 34 degrees at 6pm, felt pretty good for the first 3.2km but slowed big time over the last loop. Trent came to Roadies for the first time ever, he struggled in the heat, won't say how much I beat him by but I think he enjoyed himself

Friday Feb 16

Running 1:08:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus
First morning run in two weeks.... and it was dark, not sure why I wasn't expecting it! Took it pretty easy this morning as still not feeing 100%

Thursday Feb 15

Orienteering race (Street O) 44:30 [4] 9 km (4:57 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Summer series at Mt Austin/Turvey Park, not the nicest areas to run around. Started off pretty slowly (and uphill, getting it out of the way early). Some dodgy mapping mid course... must be why the mapper beat me by 5 points!! (first and last time Dad!)

Wednesday Feb 14

Running 49:00 [4]
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus
Willans Hill run, was a bit cautious at the start after last nights efforts, but felt pretty good. Took a bit of time to adjust to running in the heat again (32 degrees) and my feet were a bit sore from the hard ground, but apart from all my complaints it was a good run!!

Tuesday Feb 13

Cycling (Mtb) 1:10:00 [3]
Wagga Loop
Note
About 2hrs after my afternoon cycle (had been drinking water and had dinner), I somehow fainted... hasn't happened to me before but one minute I was sitting at the computer and the next thing I know I'm lying in a random position on the floor, not knowing how I got there (looking rather pale according to Mum). Felt a bit shakey afterwards

Monday Feb 12

Cycling (Mtb) 1:30:00 [3]
Gregadoo Loop, was a bit depressing riding past al the brown, dusty fields after being in NZ :(
Had a sports massage in the afternoon, was much needed!

Sunday Feb 11

Note
(rest day)
Long day of travelling! Up at 4.30am (2.30am Aus time) for our 7am flight... then had an enjoyable (maybe not) 5 hour wait in Syd airport for my flight back to Wagga

Saturday Feb 10

Orienteering (control picking exercise) 31:00 [3] 3 km (10:20 / km)
shoes: Jalas - old
Feeling pretty crap still so took it nice and easy, no major navigation errors which was good
Orienteering race (Camp Champs) 55:00 [4] 4.5 km (12:13 / km)
shoes: Jalas - old
Jog/slow run, was pretty happy with my navigation, made one error going to 14, by then my head was telling me it was time to stop so went back.

Friday Feb 9

Orienteering (relocation exercise) 1:02:00 [3]
shoes: Jalas - old
Woke up with a cold, great....
Relocation exercise with Rachel, wasn't feeling 100% so struggled with both the running (it was Waioneke, so lots of ups and downs!) and navigating
Orienteering 50:00 [3]
shoes: Jalas - old
Took it pretty easy cos felt yuk, tried to concentrate on navigating.

Had a nice snooze under the Macadamia trees at the MacNut farm after the training

Thursday Feb 8

Orienteering (compass exercise) 45:00 [4] 5.5 km (8:11 / km)
shoes: Jalas - old
Compass exercise at Woodhill, pretty vague in some areas, thankfully I didn't get hopelessly lost!! Should have worn long socks tho, damn cutty grass!!
Orienteering 43:00 [4] 5.5 km (7:49 / km)
shoes: Jalas - old
Afternoon course at Woodhill
Running 55:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus
As if we hadn't done enough running for the day! Headed to the coast and did a fun group (Kathryn, Jas, Jo and Rachel) run down a big hill and then along a cool creek, crossed it a few times and stopped for a dip mid run, then back up the hill for dinner by the beach!

Wednesday Feb 7

Orienteering 51:00 [4] 4.5 km (11:20 / km)
shoes: Jalas - old
Introduction to Woodhill course. Given my previous efforts at Woodhill I took it fairly steady for the first few controls, made one dodgy error.

Tuesday Feb 6

Orienteering race (Loop race) 1:16:55 [5] 9.5 km (8:06 / km)
shoes: Jalas - old
Long race to end the weekend, felt surprisingly good. Ran with the pack for the first loop and then I slowed. Stuffed the first control on the second loop, loosing a fair bit of time and the pack. Was good to run by myself tho as it meant I actually had to navigate.

Monday Feb 5

Orienteering race (Middle) 25:42 [4] 3.1 km (8:17 / km)
shoes: Jalas - old
Pretty fun area, fast, open with heaps of little gullies. Chasing start from the sprint the day before (so was at the end), didn't make any major errors, finally happy with my navigating
Orienteering race (Relay) 39:06 [4] 3.5 km (11:10 / km)
shoes: Jalas - old
Obviously used up my good run for the day in the morning!! No errors on the first loop but then kinda lost it in the second half (maybe it had something to do with seeing Prong and Ezy mid loop??) stuffing up 11 big time and then 13.
Orienteering race (Sprint) 15:20 [5] 2.5 km (6:08 / km)
shoes: Jalas - old
Was rather tired by this stage so thankfully course wasn't too technical

Sunday Feb 4

Orienteering race (Middle) 45:13 [4] 2.9 km (15:36 / km)
shoes: Jalas - old
Was feeling extremely sore from the day before, so wasn't running my fastest, still managed to make a few dodgy route choices, not very happy
Orienteering race (Sprint) 19:51 [4] 2.4 km (8:16 / km)
shoes: Jalas - old
Yet another slow race from me, just not used to terrain running.

Saturday Feb 3

Event: Waitangi 4 Day 2007

Orienteering race (Long) 1:36:21 [5] 6.2 km (15:32 / km)
shoes: Jalas - old
Probably my worst Orienteering start to the year. Just wasn't able to navigate properly! Made a rather stupid error early on (going from 2 to 5 instead of 2 to 3) and from then on my confidence in my nav was very low! Managed to make things worse by stacking it mid course and hitting my shin, it hurt!!

Thursday Feb 1

Orienteering (Street Score Event) 40:32 [4] 8.4 km (4:50 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
First Summer Series of the year starting from the Wagga Beach. Being Thursday and late night shopping my aim was to avoid the main street at all costs!! I ended up having to cross it once.

Some of the circles had been drawn a bit dodgy on the map so spent a bit of time at a number of controls, but a win with 200 points and 4mins to spare (Dad was closest with 180 points but only seconds to spare)

Not looking forward to the 5am alarm tomorrow for my 6.30am flight to Syd!! eek!!
