Monday Apr 30

Running intervals 35:00 [4]
shoes: Nike Air Zoom
Track = heavy, gotta love Waggas grass athletics track!! After the weekends rain it was almost a bog.
Was feeling rather sore after Livingstone yestie and Pommy on Sat and my slow times reflected this. Decided not to cycle over, too dark and stormy.

Long warm up + dynamic stretching
3 x 800m with a 200m recovery
Cool down.

Sunday Apr 29

Orienteering (Wagga Club Event) 1:01:35 [4] 6.6 km (9:20 / km) +350m 7:23 / km
shoes: Jalas - new
Local event at Livingstone, good course, no too techincal just a lot of up and downs, didn't make any errors thou I probably used the tracks a bit too much. Legs were feeling pretty sore by the end after the hills from yesterday. Started to rain about 15mins into the run and didn't stop, it was great, came back soaked!! New shoes were good aswell
Running warm up/down 15:00 [2]
shoes: Jalas - new

Saturday Apr 28

Running 39:36 [5] 8.5 km (4:40 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus
End of month handicap race at Pommy. Usually my worst race of the month, for some reason I always end up running my slowest time.
This week was determined to go under 40mins, and just got there!! Had some German guy right behind me for nearly the entire run which pushed me.

Friday Apr 27

Running 1:07:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus
Lovely morning for a run, a nice cloud cover meant it wasn't too cold (however no rain yet....) and there was an awesome red sunrise.

My long run from Wednesday finally caught up with me, was feeling quite stiff and sore for a good part of the run. Not many people out this morning, only saw my friendly greyhound walker out plus his eight dogs!!

Thursday Apr 26

Running 48:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus
Willans Hill run, legs were feeling a bit sore after yesterday but loosened up after a bit.

Some good news (finally!!).... Its been a long 4 weeks since my job interview (and nearly 3 months since I actually applied) and I found out "officially" today that I got my job, yay!!
C • congrats 3

Wednesday Apr 25

Running 1:46:56 [3] 21 km (5:06 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
First long run in a while after breakfast!! Did my 'Wagga Loop', took Dad's GPS but the batteries had died by the time I got to the beach.

Started off pretty slowly as wasn't sure how I'd go with 2 long runs in 4 days, but felt good for entire time (prob had something to do with having eaten before hand!!). Annoying headwind coming back up Red Hill Rd but apart from that a good run. Looking forward to the Canberra Half in a couple of weeks, hopefully can better last years time.
C • good on you Briohny
your 1km ...

Standard Willans Hill run

Monday Apr 23

Running warm up/down 20:00 [3] 3 km (6:40 / km)

Warm up and cool down at intervals. Dad ran over from home just in time for my cool down.
Running intervals 4:10 [4] 1 km (4:10 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Hadn't planned on doing a time trial tonight but Mark wasn't too busy with the juniors. Started off a bit too slow and struggled on the bends, finished strongly but not a great time
Cycling (Mtb) 15:00 [2]
Ride to and from Jubilee. Realised on the way home that I may need to invest in a light for my bike, as it's dark at 6pm!!

Sunday Apr 22

Running 1:35:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Morning run in Albury. Was greeted by my first fog for the year (and wasn't prepared for the cooler conditions, shorts and a singlet!). Ran along the bike track to the River and then to Wodonga, just followed the track for 50mins, no idea where I was going, and then turned around and went back. Managed to get into a nice rhythm early which was good. Fog cleared just as I was finishing.

Saturday Apr 21

Running 40:10 [5] 8.5 km (4:44 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus
Road Runners at Pomingalarna. New course this year and it seems that John has managed to utilise every hill!! A rather steep course, but quite enjoyable. Felt pretty good for most of the run but slowed a bit in the last km. Kept ahead of Carmel K for most of the run, she only got me by 10secs

Friday Apr 20

Running 1:06:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Plumpton/Boiling Down Road loop. Was horrible and smokey this arvo and I struggled accordingly.
Spent another day doing inspections, this time West Wyalong and Narrandera.... bring on the weekend!! (tho I'm going to Albury so no relief from driving)

Thursday Apr 19

Running 38:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Easy morning run around the Lake Albert, awesome red sunrise over the lake.
Running 48:00 [4]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Willans Hill run, cooling down nicely but getting dark a lot earlier!!

Wednesday Apr 18

Running 56:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Morning Mitchell Rd, struggled to get out of bed this morn, glad I went thou as ended up spending nearly 10hours in the car today for work, numerous inspections in Tumut, Tumbarumba, Towong and Biggera (the Murray looks very different here!!)

Tuesday Apr 17

Running 48:30 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Willans Hill run, started off slowly but was feeling pretty good 10mins into the run. Getting a bit bored with this run so will have to think bout changing it (thou that would mean more hills, eeek)

Monday Apr 16

Running 35:00 [3]
shoes: Jalas - new
After another 5 hours in the car really needed a good stretch of the legs. Managed to convince Trent into coming for a jog with me before he went back to Albury.
Did four laps of the Jubilee playing fields, first one with Trent. Also tested out my new o'ing shoes, not bad and no signs of blisters in unusual places. Legs were feeling rather tired

Sunday Apr 15

Orienteering race (NOL 7) 1:17:25 [5] 10.3 km (7:31 / km) +320m 6:30 / km
shoes: Jalas - old
Well, managed to have one goodish run for the week. Didn't really make any errors until 9, when I exited the control in a very weird direction, quickly realised what I was doing and corrected myself. Stuffed around a bit at 14, Anna and Kirsten caught me here and stuck with them until 16. Ok until the 2nd last control where I don't know what I did, but I'm sure I lost a reasonable amount of time :(

Pretty much got in the car as soon as I finished and headed off to Swan Hill for the night.

Saturday Apr 14

Orienteering race (NOL 6) 46:19 [5] 5.9 km (7:51 / km)
shoes: Jalas - old
Where do I start??? Over ran the first control, was extremely scrappy to the next few....... need I go on?? Was ready to head home after this race.

Friday Apr 13

Orienteering race (NOL 5 - Sprint) 16:07 [5] 2.8 km (5:45 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano
Sprint around caravan park/school/parklands. Technically I was ok, physically I struggled, just had no speed.

Thursday Apr 12

Note
(rest day)
No time for running today, Mum and I spent the morning having coffee in Tanunda and then the arvo visiting numerous wineries in the Barossa (including plenty of sampling!!)

Wednesday Apr 11

Running 1:02:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Morning run from the caravan park at West Beach, headed the opposite direction today and ran along the Torrens River for a bit, was quite enjoyable.
Bit of retail therapy in Adelaide before heading up to Tanunda for the next four nights.

Tuesday Apr 10

Running 30:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Stretch of the legs run along the beach from the caravan park at West Beach to Glenelg and back.

Monday Apr 9

Orienteering race (Easter Day 3) 54:31 [5] 5.8 km (9:24 / km) +320m 7:22 / km
shoes: Jalas - old
Due to my terrible performances over the previous days had a fairly early start. Main aim was to concertrate on navigation today and not running, this wasn't a problem given steepness of the terrain! Was pretty happy with the run, did slow at the end.

Overall it was a very disappointing Easter for me, not sure what went wrong. Physically I was feeling ok at the start, I know I lack speed at the moment so will have to work on that. But my navigation was just bad. Mentally I don't think I was there either.

Sunday Apr 8

Orienteering race (Easter Day 2) 1:26:53 [5] 9.4 km (9:15 / km) +320m 7:54 / km
shoes: Jalas - old
Probably my worst long race in a while.... was feeling really good technically (and physically, surprisingly) until the long leg... I came so close to the control but not sure what happened, finally found it (lost bout 10mins), motivation was very low after this and just aimed to finish

Saturday Apr 7

Orienteering race (Easter Day 1) 40:56 [5] 5.8 km (7:03 / km)
shoes: Jalas - old
Started off ok, well that was until the 3rd control where I stuffed around in the wrong gully, prob lost 2mins. Was ok for the rest of the course, cept felt myself getting progressively slower

Friday Apr 6

Event: Australian Easter Orienteering Carnival

Orienteering race (Easter Sprint) 16:06 [5] 2.6 km (6:12 / km)
shoes: Jalas - old
Struggled with my speed, but navigated ok.

Wednesday Apr 4

Running 50:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus
Another perfect morning for a run, and not as chilly as the day before. Just along Plumpton Rd to Boiling Down Rd and back home. Neil caught up to me as I was going past the golf club, tho his pace was a bit too quick for me this morning. Last run before the long drive to SA.... eekk 10hours in a car.

Sports massage at lunch time (so felt a little too relaxed at work in the arvo), definately needed it. Must have done something to my shoulder over the weekend cos was in a lot of pain.

Tuesday Apr 3

Running 1:07:30 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Great morning for a run, cool (even pulled out my long sleeved running top for the occassion!!) and calm. Felt pretty good, my arms/shoulder is still hurting but not as bad as yesterday.

Lots of people out this morning, saw the usual crowd, Carmel, the guy walking his 8 Greyhounds along Redbank Rd (thankfully they are all well behaved and on leads!!) and the Tuesday morning cycle group.

Monday Apr 2

Running intervals 25:00 [3] 4.8 km (5:12 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Feeling rather sore from the weekend, especially my left shoulder?!? Decided to go to intervals (more for a social catch up than a hard session).
Long warm plus some run throughs.
4 x 400m with a 200m recovery
Cool down and stretches.
Cycling (Mtb) 15:00 [2]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Ride to and from intervals. Going over Red Hill was a killer, my legs just wouldn't work!! Felt better on the way home.

Sunday Apr 1

Orienteering (Wagga / Albury Interclub) 58:13 [4] 5.8 km (10:02 / km)
shoes: Jalas - old
First Interclub Challenge for the year, run by Albury/Wodonga on 'Mt Terrible'. Fairly easy terrain, and courses lacked challenge, with little route choice and a lot of pointless up and down legs. Had a bit of trouble (as did everyone else) with the 2nd control, not really confident that it was in the right place. Won by 5 mins. And Wagga beat Albury 33 -27
C • go the waggaroos 1
Orienteering warm up/down 15:00 [2]
shoes: Jalas - old
Easy jog/cool down around the last part of the Orange course to check that Trent was doing ok. Didnt see him so figured (hoped!) he was back and he was.
