Saturday Jun 30

Running 48:30 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Morning Willans run, pushed it pretty hard up the hills and recovered on the flats. Sprinkling with rain at times which was refreshing (better than Road Runners)

Friday Jun 29

Gym 1:00:00 [3]
This really hurt, increased my weights this week, ouch!!

Thursday Jun 28

Running 38:30 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Morn easy around the Lake. Council have put gravel on the pathway around the Lake, it's crap, half it has been washed away by the recent rain and is now in piles along the track. Was tired of getting little stones in my shoes!!
Running 48:30 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Standard Willans run. My body was there but my mind wasn't, ended up having a stack up the last hill, it hurt :(

Wednesday Jun 27

Running 1:07:15 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Alarm went off at 6am, got up, looked outside to find wet and windy weather so went back to bed for an hour.

Rain and wind had cleared by the afternoon. Didn't feel to great running thou but was glad I went

Tuesday Jun 26

Running 48:30 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Had planned on running in the morning today but was too hard to get out of bed. Standard Willans run in the afternoon, nothing special

Monday Jun 25

Running warm up/down 16:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Easy jog to and from Nelson Dr
Running intervals 25:00 [4]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Pretty poor effort today, was tired after work (excuses)

Sunday Jun 24

Orienteering (Burngoogee training) 22:07 [4] 2.7 km (8:11 / km)
shoes: Jalas - new
Opted for training at Burngoogee rather than the Wagga/Albury interclub at Table Top (by the sounds of it I made the right decision).

Set myself 2 3kmish loops, mainly using rocks as control features. The green has definitely thickened up in some areas which was a bit confusing so made sure I used the contours more than anything

Orienteering (Burngoogee training) 23:13 [4] 3.1 km (7:29 / km)
shoes: Jalas - new
Was cursing the course setter (myself) on the way to the first control.... up a nice rocky hill. A bit more open running on this loop, was reading the rock nicely

Orienteering (Shockeroo Track training) 42:44 [4] 6.2 km (6:54 / km)
shoes: Jalas - new
Popped across the road to Shockeroo, haven't run here for a while. Set myself a course with a couple of long legs through vague spur/gully terrain as I often have trouble staying in contact with the map, it worked, the first long leg I managed to stop way short and run around like an idiot before I realised where I was. Good fast open running, some of the rocks were a bit hard to see as they were covered in moss. Was feeling pretty exhausted by the end

Saturday Jun 23

Orienteering (Connorton training) 1:01:18 [4] 8.1 km (7:34 / km)
shoes: Jalas - new
Out to Connorton for some orienteering training with Mum. Was still frosty when we got there, my thumb was so so cold in my compass but stopped hurting after about 10mins, not sure if it was because it had gone numb.

Started off slowly and cautiously, and was feeling pretty good after about 10mins, sun was really annoying at one stage being so low in the sky, was really hard to keep in contact with the map whilst making sure I didn't stack it.

Running race 17:16 [4] 4 km (4:19 / km) vdot: 44.9
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
The rest of the family was going to roadies so decided to tag along, only did the short. Was feeling a bit tight after the morning but it was good

Friday Jun 22

Running 1:07:30 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Morning Plumpton/Boiling Down run. Freezing this morn (-1.5 degrees when I was running!), lucky I'd added a couple of layers. A heavy frost provided some crunchy running. The footbridge at the northern end of Lake Albert even had a nice layer of ice on it.

Thursday Jun 21

Running 47:50 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Willans standard. Feeling a bit sluggish this arvo after a big lunch.

Some disappointing news today, the Riverina Marathon/Relay has been cancelled (thanks to Wagga City Council, the most anti-progress and aging council) this year. Had been looking forward to running it as a 2 person relay with Dad. Hopefully they'll have it up and running again next year, maybe with a new course.
C • get out... 2

Wednesday Jun 20

Running 52:40 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus
A lovely morning for a run, no rain!! Did my streets loop but in the opposite direction, going up Stanley St was a killer so I think I'll stick to running it the other way
Gym 1:00:00 [3]
Body Pump was on tonight, changed time (half an hour later, so damn had to spend half an hour longer at work!). Didn't do triceps again, woohoo!!

I must have worn an o'ing t-shirt a few weeks ago as an ex-Orienteer (before my time) introduced herself to me before the class, Karen Barbey (orienteered in Wagga back in the Rod Dominish days), so we had a great chat about who's still running from her days
C • blast from the past 6

Tuesday Jun 19

Running 53:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Morning streets, managed to get home just before our sprinkle of rain. Nice, easy run and not too cold, tho by the sounds of it I won't be that lucky tomorrow morn!!

Had planned on going to body pump this arvo, but when I got to the gym discovered that they had changed the time table since last week, bugger. Went for a fast walk in the drizzle when I got home instead.

Monday Jun 18

Running warm up/down 16:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Easy run in the chilly weather to and from Nelson Dr for some attempted intervals.
Running intervals 30:00 [4]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
6 x 500m intervals, with a 500m recovery back to the start along Nelson Dr. Went ok for the first 4, but kinda lost motivation for the last 2.

Sunday Jun 17

Running long 1:43:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Morning long run in Albury, one that I've been thinking of doing for a while but keep making excuses. Out along the bike track towards Lavington and then out to the Panthers Club (30mins), from here I ran the Nail Can Hill fun run course (11.3km) and omg I forgot how much the first hill hurt!! My legs felt like jelly!! Conditions were better than when I actually ran the race in 06 (was pooring with rain so the track was nice and muddy!! did 53.49 that year). I ended up doing about 59mins today and still had to run back to Trents. Felt really good for doing the run and looking forward to running the race again in 08!!

Saturday Jun 16

Running race 42:26 [4] 9 km (4:43 / km) vdot: 42.6
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Road Runners at Rawlings Park, not really enjoying this course, too much running on the roads which is dumb cos there are a lot of good tracks around. Numbers were down this week and I ended up running most of it by myself so lacked the motivation to push myself :(

Friday Jun 15

Running 1:07:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Not nearly cold this morning as yesterday, thankfully!! Had to run with my mini head lamp for the first 40mins, it kept slipping down cos of my beanie, but there was no way I was going without that! Saw Carmel K on Boiling Down road, no light on a dirt road, don't think I'd risk it!!

Thursday Jun 14

Running warm up/down 16:00 [3] 3.2 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Glad I decided to stay in bed this morning and train in the arvo, was a delightful -1.3degrees at 7am today and was only 6.5degrees at midday, bbrrrr!!

Jog to and from Nelson Dr for some intervals.
Running intervals 25:00 [4] 5 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
5 x 500m intervals with a 500m recovery back. Missed the marker on the road at the end of the first rep so ran a bit too far, the rest were ok.

Wednesday Jun 13

Running 51:50 [3]
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline GTS7
Morning streets, a beautiful clear morning, the moon was looking pretty funky.
Gym 1:00:00 [3]
No triceps today, yay!!

Tuesday Jun 12

Running 48:10 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Mid-morning Willans loop. Legs were a bit tight at the start but had warmed up nicely by the time I hit the hill. Sports massage in the arvo.

Monday Jun 11

Orienteering race (QB3 Relay) 32:49 [4] 4.1 km (8:00 / km) +160m 6:42 / km
shoes: Jalas - new
Team Davey came away with a win in Group 8 (Mixed Equal Legs) on a chilly morning at Yewrangara. Dad ran the first leg in 33.07, Mum the second in 42ish and me the third leg.

Probably the smalled QB3 relays that I've ever been too, the grave yard was very tiny!! Navigated fine (it was an Orange course), legs were feeling rather sore after yesterday and didn't like scrammbling over fallen timber and the like. Had a bit of an upset stomach, probably after last nights curry, but managed to beat Dad!!
C • As you should... 7

Sunday Jun 10

Orienteering race (QB3 Day 2) 1:16:51 [5] 10.4 km (7:23 / km) +410m 6:10 / km
shoes: Jalas - new
QB3 Day 2 at Clonalton/Grahams Creek. A rather different story to the previous day, I could actually run!! Quite an enjoyable course, a couple of short legs but mostly long ones which actually provided some route choice. Felt as thou I was running pretty well and was happy with my navigating. Made a small error at 4, was in a lot of rock and overran it. Was sick of climbing over damn barb wire fences by the end of the run!! Only 3mins behind Jo so was very happy.
Running warm up/down 15:00 [3]
shoes: Jalas - new
Easy run to the start

Saturday Jun 9

Orienteering race (QB3 Day 1) 1:02:23 [5] 4.9 km (12:44 / km) +230m 10:19 / km
shoes: Jalas - new
QB3 Day 1 at Cliffords Farm. A very small field (just Jo and myself) in W21A. Found the course more physically challenging than anything, just a lot of legs through scrubby stuff. However I did manage to make one biggish error between 7 and 8 when I lost the track and drifted a bit too far east, ended up having to cross a rather large, green gully, not happy.

A nice, quite weekend, lost mobile reception sometime after Cootamundra (and didn't get it back until Monday arvo), plus no TV at our accom. At least we had the radio to tell us the Swans beat the Hawks, yay!!

Friday Jun 8

Running 1:07:15 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Morning Plumpton/Boiling Down Rd loop

Thursday Jun 7

Note
(rest day)
No time for training today. Spent the day travelling to Hay (and then 100km north of Hay!!) to do a thrilling inspection of a bridge job!! At least I had the new Powderfinger album for company

Wednesday Jun 6

Running 53:15 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Morning streets run. A clear beautiful day (and chilly), thankfully there was no fog, unlike the previous two mornings. Struggled going up Leavenworth Dr and over Willans, legs don't like hills in the morning
Gym 1:00:00 [3]
Back to normal weights, it hurt

Tuesday Jun 5

Running 48:10 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Standard Willans Hill run. Got the map out after to work out another loop

Monday Jun 4

Running warm up/down 15:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Run to and from the boat club rd (one day I'll actually work out what its really called, but it leads to the Boat Club!)
Running intervals 20:00 [5] 4 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
4 x 500m with a 500m recovery back down the road. Felt pretty good considering I'd spent a good part of the day driving to Yass and back (plus 2hours standing in the freezing cold by the highway). Times got better with each rep which was strange for me!!

Sunday Jun 3

Orienteering (Wagga - Albury Interclub) 57:50 [4] 6.6 km (8:46 / km)
shoes: Jalas - new
Interclub Challenge #2 at Burngoogee. This is one on my favourite areas and the course setter used some of the best parts of the map. Legs were feeling pretty heavy for some reason and at times it was an effort. Didn't make any major errors, was a bit too high in the rocks at #4. It seems like a mini cyclone had gone through the area around #6, there were trees down everywhere - looked pretty recent. See photos on Golfer's log

Been a while since I've run at this map, will have to make an effort to get out there again soon for some training. If WRN get the NSW Champs in 2009 we're looking to re-map this area - should be good!!!

Brought home some additional cargo from the event - the JWOC medals. Taking them up to QB3 next weekend.
C • Who was the setter?? 4

Saturday Jun 2

Running 41:46 [5] 9 km (4:38 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Back to Roadies after a month off (more like my first weekend at home in a month!!). New course at Rawlings Park, 2 loops of a not very exciting track. Felt pretty good for the first loop and then slowed considerably over the second
C • Where is rawlings park? I can'... 3
Cycling (Mtb) 30:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Ride to and from Rawlings Park for roadies. A nice warmup in the cold conditions. Prob haven't riden for a good 6 weeks

Friday Jun 1

Running 38:15 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus
Morning easy run in the drizzle around the lake
