| Orienteering race (ACT Champs) 1:24:07 [5] 9.5 km (8:51 / km) +315m 7:36 / km | ||
| shoes: Jalas - new | ||
| ACT Champs at Foxlow Flats, mainly spur gully with a bit of rock and the odd native cherry tree. Started off a bit slow and had to keep reminding myself that this was not a training run!! Pretty happy with my navigating, made a couple of small errors, over ran 13, was a bit off for 17 and over ran 22. Vanessa caught me at 11 and was running pretty strongly and Jo caught me at 22. Ended up coming 4th, 9mins behind the top three but only seconds ahead of Mace. Alright course, not many long legs or route choice.

| Running 1:06:10 [3] 13 km (5:05 / km) | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 (2) | ||
| Run to work. Last time I did this it was dark, so was a nice change and summer is definitly coming as I traded in my long tights for shorts this morning. Met Fitzy when I was half way around Lake Albert, ran with him for a bit but his pace was just a bit too fast for my morning body and I wanted to make it to work in one piece!! Looking forward to my rest day tomorrow now!! yay!! | ||
Thursday Sep 27 | ||
| Running 37:00 [3] | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 (2) | ||
| Morning lap around Lake Albert, beautiful spring morning | ||
| Running 47:30 [3] | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 (2) | ||
| Standard Willans run. Was an alright run, Council have just gone through and graded the main tracks which made for difficult running at times due to newly surfaced rocks. Managed to catch Mum on her cycle home from work at the top of Red Hill road, looking pretty classy with her newly attached cable ties to her helmet! (I look just as cool now) | ||
Wednesday Sep 26 | ||
| Cycling (Mtb) 1:05:00 [3] | ||
| Nice afternoon cycle.
Yes... there were magpie 'incidents', but I'd rather not put them in words.
Tuesday Sep 25 | ||
| Running 1:07:15 [3] 13 km (5:10 / km) | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 (2) | ||
| Morning Plumpton/Boiling Down loop. No magpie swooping this morn!! He was there sitting in his tree but made no move, maybe hes worked out I'm no fun anymore, I was happy anyways. | ||
| C • Glutton for punishment 2 | ||
Monday Sep 24 | ||
| Orienteering 1:16:30 [4] 9.8 km (7:48 / km) | ||
| shoes: Jalas - new | ||
| Went out to Connorton in the morn (Mmm flex days) for a last bit of bush bashing before Oceania. Felt more like early summer than spring, was quite quite warm!!
Dad set me two loops, one 6km loop with some long legs with route choice and a shorter one with a lot of shorter legs. Found the first loop pretty good, no major mistakes. Stuffed around a lot on the second loop, had a fair bit of trouble with one control, which happened to be the pivot control, thankfully found it better the second time.
| Cycling (Mtb) 55:00 [3] | ||
| Soon this will no longer be my training log, but my magpie attack log. Met the most persistent magpie of the seaon yet, I was riding along some road in Hilltop and there he was banging away at my helmet, I kept going for a bit as usually they don't venture to far past their nest (which I have no idea where it was as it's a fairly new subdivision with little to no trees!!), I ended up stopping, then starting again, he attacked again, so I stopped and walked. A bunch of school kids were walking the opposite way, so he gave up on me and took after them.... not happy!!!
Apart from the above incident was a good cycle, I once again confirmed that I am not a mountain bike rider... ventured up on Red Hill, the tracks are pretty good, but I'm hopeless!! I didn't fall off thou!! from here found a new track that took me up to Hilltop (prob a good running track) and then went around the back of the hill to Springvale and out Gregadoo Rd.
Sunday Sep 23 | ||
| Running 54:15 [3] | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 (2) | ||
| Morn run from Trents to the Murray and along it for a bit, felt surprisingly good after my lack of sleep. Was a really nice spring morning, thou the River had that cold look about it.
Had planned on going swimming when I got back to Wagga in the arvo, however, Trent picked up that random stomach bug on Saturday (hence why I slept like crap, as someone spent a lot of time throwing up), so ended up looking after him for most of the day and didn't get back to Wagga until 5.30, pool shuts at 6pm.
Saturday Sep 22 | ||
| Running 1:42:30 [3] | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 (2) | ||
| Morn long run from Trents place. Out along the bike track to Lavington Sports Club and then ran the Nail Can Hill fun run course, alwalys forget just how hard that first long long hill is and was cursing myself by then end of the climb. Felt surprisingly good from then on, downhills were fun. Think I ran the course in 61mins, then ran back to Trents. Was pretty stuffed afterwards but glad I did the run. | ||
Friday Sep 21 | ||
| Running 1:07:20 [3] 13 km (5:11 / km) | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 | ||
| Morning run, same as Wednesday. The angry Magpie swoops no matter what time of day it is, bugger!! Off to Albury this afternoon, yay!! | ||
| C • dark 2 | ||
Thursday Sep 20 | ||
| Running 48:20 [3] | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 | ||
| Standard Willans run, nice spring arvo with no Magpie incidents. Felt better than yesterday | ||
Wednesday Sep 19 | ||
| Running 1:05:20 [3] 13 km (5:02 / km) | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 | ||
| Plumpton - Boiling Down Rd loop. Was feeling pretty tired and unmotivated, and the wind didnt help. Had another encounter with my unfriendly magpie, he was a bit angry today and I ended up stopping and walking until I was well past him. Actually started to rain during the last 20mins but wasn't anything useful. | ||
Tuesday Sep 18 | ||
| Note | ||
| (rest day) | ||
| Went to Sydney for work - horrible 6.30am flight up and a delayed flight back, not an enjoyable day | ||
Monday Sep 17 | ||
| Running 1:13:30 [3] | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 | ||
| Out to Plumpton Hill and back, was cold and windy and I was sore from the weekend. Another visit to the chiro today, I pre-warned him of my return to orienteering after a 2 month break - it showed!! Today was the second time he made the comment that he doesn't see problems like I apparently have on people my age - is that bad??
Enforced rest day tomorrow, off to Sydney for my RTA Orientation - only 2 and a half years late. Not looking forward to the 6.30am flight
Sunday Sep 16 | ||
| Orienteering (WR - AW Interclub) 1:03:42 [4] 6.6 km (9:39 / km) +270m 8:01 / km | ||
| shoes: Jalas - new | ||
| 4th and final Wagga / Albury Interclub challenge for the year, at Wolfram (southern end of Livingstone SF). Had a feeling I was going to struggle as my legs were hurting after the warm up (which involved jogging 100m to a tree - toilet stop - and back to the car).
John Oliver set a great course, started off with 6 short legs in the open rock area and then arcoss into the main part of the map, a large chunk of which has been burnt in bushfires, which made for great running. Navigated pretty well, only really had troubles with #10. Feet were really sore afterwards as the ground is so hard.
| Swimming 25:00 [2] | ||
| Made it back to the pool again this arvo - must mean I enjoyed myself last week. Dragged Dad along with me. Felt a bit flatter than last time, I think my body was re-adjusting to orienteering again!! Dad seemed to enjoy himself as each time I passed him he was testing out different strokes... freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, floating on his back and just kicking!! I stuck with the standard freestyle | ||
Saturday Sep 15 | ||
| Orienteering 1:04:10 [4] 8 km (8:01 / km) | ||
| shoes: Jalas - new | ||
| First orienteering in about two months!! Dad set me two 4km loops out at Connorton, started a bit slow and had to keep reminding myself to look at the ground and lift my legs up - surprisingly I didnt have a stack! Was a bit scrappy over the first loop, so made sure I concentrated more on my nav on the second loop. Overall felt pretty good.
Spring has definitely hit Connorton, purple and yellow flowers everywhere (some were weeds but still looked nice), and there was even a little bit of water in the creeks.
| Running race (Road Runners) 20:42 [4] 4.5 km (4:36 / km) vdot: 42.0 | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 (2) | ||
| Decided I may as well go to roadies as well today, only did the short, legs were feeling pretty sore going up the hill at the start. First finisher on the short today | ||
Friday Sep 14 | ||
| Running 51:15 [3] | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 (2) | ||
| Had planned on running in the arvo today, but being a Friday I couldn't really see it happening. Streets run again but in the reverse direction - going up Stanley St was a killer on the legs that early in the day | ||
Thursday Sep 13 | ||
| Running 54:45 [3] | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 (2) | ||
| Morning run from Trents along the cycleway and then along the Murray. Was still singing away to Powderfinger and Silverchair after last night concert, it was great!! | ||
| Cycling (Mtb) (exercise bike) 40:00 [3] | ||
| Tested out the exercise bike that Dad bought on the weekend. Not too bad, much prefer actual bike riding but I it'll be a good option for when I get home late | ||
Wednesday Sep 12 | ||
| Running 51:30 [3] | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 | ||
| morn streets | ||
Tuesday Sep 11 | ||
| Running 48:00 [3] | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 | ||
| Standard Willans run. Today hurt, my legs were heavy and really wasn't into the run right from the start (prob cos I had a head wind for the first part), did feel better afterwards | ||
Monday Sep 10 | ||
| Running 1:12:15 [3] | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 | ||
| Felt surprisingly good this afternoon, was a bit stiff and slow at the start but got better. Had hoped for an afternoon run in the rain after yesties warm run.... what happened to it?? It decided to rain during the most inappropriate times for me today, 1) whilst walking around a construction site near narrandera (who remembers to take a rain coat these days??) and 2) when I was driving a dirty rta car back to wagga, the rain just made it worse. Maybe tomorrow?? | ||
Sunday Sep 9 | ||
| Event: Lake to Lagoon | ||
| Running race (Lake to Lagoon) 43:18 [5] 9.5 km (4:33 / km) vdot: 44.4 | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 (2) | ||
| Another warm day for running and once again I hadn't prepared myself for it. Felt pretty good at the start, was 13mins at 3km and then 26.30 at 6km, but from then on started to fade. Still pretty happy with my time given the way I was feeling, I think I was the 8th female home which isn't too bad. Think it's time to start orienteering again, I'm sick of road running!!
It was fairly obvious how serious some people were taking the run... spotted two people have pre-race smokes (both with running numbers on and adjacent to the starting line).
| C • Good work! 5 | ||
| Swimming 25:00 [2] | ||
| At the Wagga 'Oasis' (aka. big big waste of money by Wagga City Council), opened probably 4 years ago, this was my first visit. Pretty good set up, 50m outdoor pool (which was apparently leaking, only took 2 years to work this out!!), 25m indoor pool, wave pool (thou the 'wave ball' is being repaired), hydrotherapy pool and a couple of fun pools for the kids.
Can't remember the last time I went swimming, but bought myself some new swimmers yestie with the aim to start. Think I swum 1km, but lost count sometimes. Felt really good afterwards, cept my eyes are stinging and red cos I dont have any goggles
Saturday Sep 8 | ||
| Running race (Road Runners) 21:05 [4] 4.5 km (4:41 / km) vdot: 41.1 | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 (2) | ||
| Just the short at roadies today, due to tomorrows Lake to Lagoon. Very small turn out today, guess everyone is saving themselves | ||
Friday Sep 7 | ||
| Note | ||
| (rest day) | ||
| Rathered sleeping in than getting up this morn to run. Sports massage this arvo | ||
Thursday Sep 6 | ||
| Running 37:45 [3] | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 (2) | ||
| Morn run around the Lake, 3rd run in my run shoes, I think they should be right for this Sunday.
You can tell the Lake to Lagoon is on this weekend as over the past week or two the number of people out running has increased rapidly, too bad it'll decrease just as fast after Sunday
| Running 47:35 [3] | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 | ||
| Arvo Willans again | ||
Wednesday Sep 5 | ||
| Running 47:15 [3] | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 | ||
| Arvo Willans run, had a massive head wind going along Tamar Dr which wasn't a fun way to start the run, but once I got in the bush it was nice and it also meant I had a tail wind home. | ||
Tuesday Sep 4 | ||
| Running warm up/down 10:00 [3] | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 | ||
| Decided to go to the cycle track to do some intervals this arvo. Cam joined me, only for the warm up and cool down thou.
| ||
| Running intervals 20:00 [5] | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 | ||
| 2 x 100m, 2 x 200m, 2 x 400m (with 100m rec after each) and then the same again in reverse order.
The track is 420m, so spent most of my recovery time doing the maths as to when to stop the next interval! Hurt quite a bit (not the maths, the running), haven't done any speed work in a while but felt good afterwards
Monday Sep 3 | ||
| Running 1:03:45 [3] 13 km (4:54 / km) | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 | ||
| Plumpton - Redbank - Lake Loop. Hadn't planned on running this long today, as I had yet another visit to the Chiro today, but was feeling surprisingly good. Got swooped by the same mapgie as last week, knew it was coming this time and was prepared | ||
Sunday Sep 2 | ||
| Running 1:33:33 [3] | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 | ||
| Morning run out along Plumpton Rd and then over Plumpton Hill to the Glen and out to Mangoplah Rd, then turned around and came home. Was a chilly start, frost and fog, but cleared into a nice morning | ||
| Cycling (Mtb) 57:30 [3] | ||
| After I had concluded there was no way the Swans could loose against the Hawks (at half time), I decided to go for a cycle. Did my round Wagga loop, felt pretty good considering the big Fathers Day lunch we had! Second magpie swooping of the season thou, along my old fav track near Glenfield, not happy!! | ||
| C • Lucky.. 3 | ||
Saturday Sep 1 | ||
| Running race (Road Runners) 39:37 [5] 8.5 km (4:40 / km) vdot: 43.0 | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 | ||
| Road Runners at San Isodore. First half of the course was pretty fun, through the back of the forest centre and then the old mining reserve but last part was boring along the local streets. Nearly stepped on a big lizard when coming down one of the hills, gave me a bit of a fright.
Felt pretty good for most of the run, probably shouldn't have eaten that big slice of home made bread before the run thou!! First female home so can't complain
