Tuesday Sep 30

Cycling (Road) (Windtrainer) 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Shimano
Easy day today, had another needle at lunch and really wasn't up for running in the arvo. Nice hour on the trainer, reading and looking at my garden....

Monday Sep 29

Running 55:00 [3]
shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion
Morning run in Hervey Bay, along the walk/cycleway along the beach. My legs were so so tight from the weekend (absence of stretching and cool down to blame), so was super slow at the start. Rather warm at that time of the morning as well. Needed it thou, 2 more flights today, and no more for a while (I hope!!)

Sunday Sep 28

Orienteering race 29:18 [4] 4.4 km (6:40 / km) +115m 5:53 / km
shoes: Jalas - new
Aus Relay Champs. Ran in a composite M21AS team with Tineke (NZ) and Chris Horne (Tas) , which was a nice no pressure race after Sats epic. Was 2nd leg, so no pack running, not a bad course and I didn't make any major errors, cept overrunning 2... We finished 1st :) The guys presenting the badges were a bit confused as to why two females were in a male class (they thought we were just collecting the badges)

Saturday Sep 27

Orienteering race 1:40:47 [4] 13 km (7:45 / km) +335m 6:52 / km
shoes: Jalas - new
Aus Champs @ Hidden Glen (garmin said 13km.... my own fault!) What a mess... I lost so so much time on the 2nd control, a shortish leg across some gullies, over ran it and then ran around like an idiot - haven't brought myself to look at the splits to see just how much time I lost!!

The rest of the course was ok, my motivation was low give how much time I lost early on. Made small stupid errors throughout the course, mainly on entry to controls. Apart from that I just tired as the course went on, I was so stuffed by the end.

Overall I was pretty dissappointed with my run, I thought I was relatively fit, but once again I'm just not bush fit, I know what I have to work on for next year.

Friday Sep 26

Orienteering race 20:21 [5] 3.3 km (6:10 / km) +55m 5:42 / km
shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion
Aus Sprint Champs @ Maryborough Showgrounds, a better area than first thought and well set course. Made a silly error early on at 3, drifted too far north and found another control, lost prob 30secs, had to then try really hard to keep motivated. Started enjoying the course more once we got into the buildings.

Thursday Sep 25

Running 27:00 [3] 5.2 km (5:12 / km)
shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion
Easy jog with Dad from our accom in Maryborough, went along the river for a bit and followed some path for a bit. Can't believe how tired I am after the past three days of travelling, hopefully a good night sleep will fix that.

Wednesday Sep 24

Running 58:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2)
2 x Willans loop, after my 3rd and 4th flights in 2 days (will end up being 8 flights in 7 days) Good to stretch the legs before heading to QLD tomorrow.

Tuesday Sep 23

Running 55:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2)
Morning streets run, was off in another world again, thinking too much of the day ahead. Flew to Syd and then Newcastle, gotta love those Aeropelican flights from Syd to New.... 18 seater, windy, wet.... great flight to calm the nerves before my interview.... not....

Monday Sep 22

Note
Another Monday, another dust storm, washed my car yesterday so not very happy!!!

Cycling (Road) (Windtrainer) 30:00 [3]
Jumped on the trainer when I got home, was still really windy and wet, but after 30mins the wind appeared to have stopped, so....

Running 31:30 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2)
Quickly put my running gear on and went and did my Willans loop. Was sprinkling with rain but nice. Not sure what the next two days will hold training wise, off to Newcastle tomorrow for an interview, just depends on how I feel.

Sunday Sep 21

Running 46:00 [3] 9 km (5:07 / km)
shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion
Feeling a bit sore after yesterdays long + gardening.... but not as sore as I was after the run :( wasn't really concentrating and whilst going up some steps to the river levee I smacked my should on a low sign, it hurt!! kept going as the walk home would have taken just as long, blood running down my arm and onto my new white wagga roadies running top :(

Saturday Sep 20

Event: 2008 Australian Championships

Running race 36:23 [5] 8 km (4:33 / km) vdot: 44.1
shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion
Roadies at San Isodore, rather warm day today so tried to drink plenty beforehand. Unusual experience during this run... I was leading halfway, even ahead of all the guys, turns out they were taking it a bit easier in prep for Fitzroy Falls next weekend, I didnt stay infront for too long thou!! Arms were feeling pretty sore as Id spent the morning digging my vegie patch :)

Running 1:06:00 [3] 12 km (5:30 / km)
shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion
Dad and I ran home after roadies (making it this weekends long run), we took it pretty slow as it was hot and we were recovering from roadies. Talked lots as well which prob slowed us down more. I had planned on running to my place (an extra 2km), but Willans was to daunting and I was stuffed, so went with Dad to their place.

Friday Sep 19

Running 40:00 [3]
shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion
Morning streets plod, feeling rather summery....

Thursday Sep 18

Running 40:00 [3]
shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion
Morning streets, nothing special

Orienteering 15:08 [4] 2.2 km (6:53 / km)
shoes: Asics Enduro
Set some o'ing intervals on Willans for me and the parents for something different. First part of this one was through the botanic gardens and then into the bush, not too bad, map needs updating which confused me a couple of times, as did watching mum ahead of me run past one control and then go from 5 to 9.... as you do :P

C • You know 3
Orienteering 15:59 [4] 2.5 km (6:24 / km)
shoes: Asics Enduro
Second mini course, all in bush, realised during this one that I should have made the map 1:5000 and not 1:10000. Not happy with the big scratch I got on my leg, thats what you get from wearing shorts :(

Strength and Conditioning 20:00 [2]

Wednesday Sep 17

Running 1:05:59 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2)
Hilly then flats run, felt really dead going around Willans so tried to push it a bit harder when I got on the flats, legs sore

Tuesday Sep 16

Running 39:30 [3]
shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion
Chilly morning streets run and I was stupid enough to wear shorts. Got swooped by my first magpie for the season, thou he only took one swoop, maybe my weird green beanie scared him off....

Running intervals 25:00 [4]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2)
4 x Willans intervals, was feeling really flat on the jog over but felt surprisingly good during the intervals and nearly got them all under 6mins this time (5.58, 5.54, 5.56, 6.01)

Running warm up/down 12:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2)
Jog to and from Willans with Mum

Strength and Conditioning 20:00 [2]

Monday Sep 15

Running 30:40 [3] 5.8 km (5:17 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2)
Went to work in a white car and came home in a brown one. First dust storm of the season today.... and I'm sure not the last. Sprinkling rain had replaced the dust by the time I went running but it was still blowing a gail.. Willans loop, nothing special.

C • brown is the new white 2
Pilates 30:00 [2]

Sunday Sep 14

Event: NSW Long Championships

Orienteering (NSW Champs) 1:39:12 [4] 7.5 km (13:14 / km) +235m 11:26 / km
shoes: Asics Enduro
NSW Champs @ Wattle Creek.

Got my moneys worth today!! Physically I felt fine but mentally and technically I just wasn't there. Started making small stupid errors from the 2nd control... and then bigger ones on the 4th and 10th (thanks Dave). My mind was more focused on work stuff happening in the next two weeks which wasn't good. By the end I was just out.. having fun!!

Saturday Sep 13

Running 40:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Enduro
Run with Dad from our caravan park and around Mt Alexandra in Mittagong, I had planned a random/unplanned run without a map but Dad tried to 'formalise' it too much by taking a map..... and apparently the map we took was wrong. Did a bit of bush bashing to test out my shoes in the terrain for tomorrow, going to be a tough one I think.... my aim is to have fun and finish!!

Friday Sep 12

Running 32:00 [3] 6.2 km (5:10 / km)
shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion
2 laps of Parramatta Park. Staying at Trents sisters place which is right across the road from the park. After two days of sitting, eating (a lot) and drinking (a tad too much, and not the water variety), I really needed this, felt so so slow and heavy in the legs. Nice to be able to switch off after the last two days. These shoes are super!!!

Thursday Sep 11

Running (treadmil) 40:00 [3] 7.6 km (5:16 / km)
shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion
First time I've run on a treadmil on the 61st floor.... super views over Sydney from the gym, however my treadmil wasn't facing this view (probably a good thing as the sun was shining right into the room). Surprised that I lasted for this long (thanks iPod), tried to mix it up a bit with some 'hills' and 'speed' bits.

Wednesday Sep 10

Running 1:02:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2)
Trying to do more hilly/track stuff in the mornings now that its getting lighter, instead of boring, flat street runs. Did two of my Willans loop, first lap was good but tired during the second, especially up the last hill. Off to Sydney this arvo for work, have packed my running gear this time so hopefully I'll get time to fit something in.

Tuesday Sep 9

Running 40:00 [3]
shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion
Nice morning streets run, and first run in my new shoes, first time in a long time I haven't bought Asics but was pleasently surprised with my new adidas.

Running 12:00 [2]
Easy jog to and from Willans with Mum, more talking than running

Running 25:00 [4]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2)
4 x Willans intervals. Feeling a bit flat today so not quick times. Got a bit distracted on my second rep as I saw an Echinda!! Yay!! Was pretty surprised to see it on Willans given its urban location, Mum saw it as well but it had crossed the track

Monday Sep 8

Running 57:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2)
Arvo ridge run, longer than my recent 30min monday runs but this week may be a bit light on training with two day conference in sydney at the end of the week.

Cycling (Mtb) 20:00 [3]
Trent got his new mountain bike today and was keen to test it out as soon as he got home from work, we had about 20mins of daylight left so headed up to Willans for a spin, by the end I was struggling to see the rocks on the track, was fun thou!!

Sunday Sep 7

Running long 1:35:00 [3] 18 km (5:17 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2)
Fathers Day run with Dad :) Went out along Plumpton Rd and down to the Glen then out to Mangoplah Rd and back again. Haven''t done this run since I moved so was nice, and nice to have someone to chat to along the way, thanks Dad you deserved your omelette!!
Hip has been good since Monday's massage, however at about 70mins it started to hurt again, guess I just keep the stretching up.

Strength and Conditioning 25:00 [2]

Saturday Sep 6

Running 36:10 [5] 8 km (4:31 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2)
Road Runners at San Isodore, new course this year, same horrible uphill start and then along the main ridge but instead of going down along the boring streets we went down to into the Field Studies Centre and around some dirt tracks there, with more climb.

First time I've run the long course since June and got a bit of a wake up call as some of the girls who I used to be able to beat easily kinda kicked my arse... a good motivator for me to pull my finger out and start putting a bit more effort into my training.

C • Cool! 8
Pilates 30:00 [2]

Friday Sep 5

Running 56:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2)
Arvo ridge run, had planned on running in the morning but just too tired. Finally felt like spring today, sunny, warm, lots of wattle flowering... made me start to think about magpies, sure it won't be long :(

C • Magpies 2
Strength and Conditioning 20:00 [2]

Thursday Sep 4

Note
(rest day)
Too cold (sleety snow) in the morning in Cooma to run, plus the other factors of having no running gear and feeling a tad under the weather from the night before.... Then got home too late to drag myself out for a run, would rather sleep!!
C • NSW Champs 4

Wednesday Sep 3

Running 1:10:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2)
Longer than usual morning run but won't be able to do anything tonight as heading to Cooma for work in the arvo. Alright run, need to teach my legs to run up hills in the morning, just felt so so slow!!

Tuesday Sep 2

Running intervals 25:00 [5]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2)
4 x Willans intervals, starting to get times back down to pre-trip time. Hip/hammy pretty good today, think yesties massage helped, just need to make sure I stretch more.

Times, 5.51, 5.52, 5.58, 6.10

Running warm up/down 12:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2)
Jog from home and back with Mum

Strength and Conditioning 20:00 [2]

Monday Sep 1

Running 1:50:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2)
Morn long long (for me anyways) first bit through the streets and then onto the Wiradjuri track near Flowerdale Lagoon. Ran the track from here to home (minus the bit around Pommy), was nice running through Silverlite, was pretty stuffed by the time I hit Willans but just kept pushing. happy with how I ran, longest run I've done in a while :)

Had a sports massage in the arvo, he really worked on my hip/hammy and it really really hurt. Will be interesting how it feels tomorrow when I run

C • that is quite a long run fo... 3
Pilates 30:00 [2]
Pilates with Trent and Jade. Spent a lot of the time laughing at Trent, who was in turn bagging out Jade (I think Trent will be feeling it tomorrow!!)
