Thursday May 31

Running 47:45 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus
Standard Willans Hill run. Arms were still quite sore from my two pump sessions but the rest of me was feeling ok. The one thing I hate about running in the winter is having to deal with the smoke from peoples wood fires... got my first taste today, grrr

Wednesday May 30

Running 54:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus
After a good dumping of rain yesterday and last night opted for a random run on the streets as I figured my normal tracks would be nice and muddy. Was still a bit drizzley, and the wind was freezing at times. Good to run somewhere different
Gym 1:00:00 [3]
Finished work earlier than I thought I would and went to Pump again

Tuesday May 29

Running 55:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus
Morning run out to Mitchell Rd. Was a beautiful, calm and not to chilly morning, great for running. A bit of a difference to the wet and windy afternoon
Gym 1:00:00 [3]
Definitely going to feel this one tomorrow. Used heavier weights than last week and felt it throughout the class. Great view of the rain pouring down outside during the class.

Monday May 28

Running intervals 15:00 [5] 3 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
3 x 500 with 500 recovery along the boat club road. Times were slow but consistent
Running warm up/down 20:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus
Easy jog to and from intervals

Sunday May 27

Running 1:30:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Morning run from Trents place over the new freeway and onto the new bike path. Ended up going out to Thurgoona. Was quite a nice run cept it was all on cement paths

Saturday May 26

Running 46:50 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus
Willans Hill run. Felt really good this morning and the weather was perfect, managed to get away with wearing shorts (still opted for long sleeves tho). I think this must be one of the fastest times I've run this loop.

Off to Albury this arvo, would be nice to have a weekend at home tho!! Next week!!

Friday May 25

Running 55:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus
Morning easy run (mostly in the dark) with Dad out to the Mitchell Rd track and along it for a bit, then home. Managed to step in two rather muddy puddles in the dark, not happy!

Thursday May 24

Running 48:20 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus
Arvo Willans run, wasn't as sore as I thought I'd be after pump last night, arms were hurting the most

Wednesday May 23

Running 1:06:45 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus
Morning run to work again, this time in the drizzling rain was quite nice thou
Gym 1:00:00 [3]
Made my return to Body Pump tonight after nearly a years absence, probably used weights that were a bit too light but I decided I wanted to be able to move tomorrow. I think my arms will hurt the most :(

Tuesday May 22

Running 1:06:15 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus
Morning run to work

Monday May 21

Running (recovery) 36:30 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus
Well this run hurt, not because I was feeling sore from the weekend (which I was), but when I was 5mins from home the sky decided to open... it was pouring (I'm not complaining), then it started to hail!! Ouch!! I ended up having to duck behind a fence until it stopped. Returned home soaking wet

Sunday May 20

Orienteering race (NOL 12) 1:16:30 [5] 6.3 km (12:09 / km) +240m 10:12 / km
shoes: Jalas - new
I'm not exactly the biggest fan of this map (but by the sounds of it not many people are!!), always seem to stuff up in the same place and have memories of punchering my shin in 04.

Took it very cautiously to 1 just to get into the swing of lifting my legs over piles of everything. 4 was in the area which I seem to stuff up and did (not too bad thou), I think I must have been a bit to the east of the control but managed to relocate quickly. Anna S caught me at 5 and ran with her until 8. Started to tire on the way to 9, and was rather slow on the last loop.

Saturday May 19

Event: Aust. JWOC Trials

Orienteering race (NOL 11) 34:48 [5] 4.7 km (7:24 / km) +180m 6:13 / km
shoes: Jalas - new
Was fairly happy with this run, given my lack of orienteering motivation and focus over the past 2 weeks. Started off slowly, struggled to lift my legs over anything. Lost a bit of time at 17, was a bit north and then lost a bit of time on 20, was way too low, ended up relocating off 21 (could see it in the distance).

Friday May 18

Note
(rest day)
Woke to the lovely sound of rain... lucky I'd planned a rest day. Training course has been good and thankfully I'm flying to Orange tonight and not back to Wagga

Thursday May 17

Running 50:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Out to Fingal Bay this morning, nearly adjusted to the 'slightly' humid weather. Great area for running, wish I had more time to go exploring thou.

Wednesday May 16

Running 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Managed to get an hour run in before the training course. Headed back into Nelson Bay and then into Tomaree National Park, ran up Glover Hill (???) and then along some bush tracks. Great morning for a run.

Tuesday May 15

Running 52:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Morning run at foggy Shoal Bay. From our accom out to Tomaree headland (just a guess at the name) and then along some random track up the hill, legs were quite sore from Sunday. Didn't exactly bring the right running gear - was quite warm and humid

Monday May 14

Note
(rest day)
Too sore and tired today, plus spending the afternoon travelling to Port Stephens for a 4 day training course..... 'Aboriginal Sites Identification and Conservation'.... should be interesting.....

Sunday May 13

Event: Canberra 1/2 marathon

Running race (Canberra Half Marathon) 1:35:24 [5] 21.1 km (4:31 / km) vdot: 47.7
ahr:174 max:202 shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
This year hurt a lot more than last year!! Was 24 seconds slower as well, bugger!! Felt really good for the first 10km and was running to schedule, however from then on could feel myself getting progressively slower.

Was hanging out for the drinks at 16km which helped for a bit, passed Dad going the opposite way, he was looking quite comfortable. By the 19km I was gone, started to feel tingley (is that a word?), luckly I'd stashed a water tubey thing in my bra and it got me through the rest.

Saturday May 12

Running 38:30 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Easy morning run around the Lake before heading off for Canberra

Friday May 11

Running 39:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus
Easy morning run around the Lake with Dad

Thursday May 10

Running 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus
Managed to take all my running gear to work today. Nice run along the Murrumbidgee River (or lack there of) and was feeling really good. However there seemed to be a number of random people out so not sure if I'll be doing that run in the future (especially by myself), given it's getting dark early.

Wednesday May 9

Note
(rest day)
Not exactly my idea of a rest day. Had to go to Sydney for work, which meant getting up at 5am..... long day!
C • Canberra 1/2 marathon 2

Tuesday May 8

Running 39:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Easy morning run around Lake Albert
Running 48:30 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Had planned on doing a nice flat run along the River after work.... however once at the river I realised that I'd forgotten my shoes. Came home and did my Willans run, felt better than I thought I would

Monday May 7

Running (Recovery) 30:00 [2]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Sore and tired this morning, struggled walking up the stairs at work!! First day as an RTA employee and spent it filling out forms.

Went to the track to have a chat to Mark. Did a couple of easy laps around Jubilee playing fields and then lots of stretching.

Sunday May 6

Orienteering race (NOL 10) 1:28:45 [5] 10.4 km (8:32 / km) +370m 7:15 / km
shoes: Jalas - new
Most of this race was run to the tune of 'Eternal Flame' thanks to Dave and Ezy.

Felt pretty good physically for most of the race, however my navigation (and confindence) let me down again. Left #5 at a weird angle and ended up on a random track took 2mins to relocate. Was too high for #11 and then lost another 2mins at #16. Enjoyable course thou.

Saturday May 5

Orienteering race (NOL 8 - Sprint) 20:04 [5] 2.9 km (6:55 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
A good area for a sprint, lots of thinking involved as well. Took a couples of controls to get into the map and where I could or couldn't go. Felt ok running wise, but slowed big time by the finish. In the end I was pretty happy with my result.
Orienteering race (NOL 9) 39:33 [5] 4.5 km (8:47 / km) +180m 7:19 / km
shoes: Jalas - new
Well this race was a bit of a mess. Legs and brain took a while to kick in after the morning race. Took to first couple of controls slowly to try and get used to reading the details but never really felt confident. Great area thou.

Friday May 4

Event: Aust. WOC Trials

Note
(rest day)
Travel from Albury to Melbourne

Thursday May 3

Running 55:15 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus
Couldn't decide where to run this morning, got to the Boat Club Rd and opted for my Mitchell Rd run. Nothing special.

Lunch time massage at Doyles and then drive down to Albury after work.

Wednesday May 2

Running 48:45 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13
Standard Willans run, was feeling a bit flat

Tuesday May 1

Running 38:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus
Easy morning run around the Lake
Running 51:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus
Opted for a flat run this arvo, along the River levee. I don't think I've seen the Murrumbidgee this low ever, the beach now stretches half way across the channel!!
