| ||
| Cycling (Mtb) 1:05:00 [3] | ||
| Out along Boiling Down Rd again today, cept this time kept going to the end and then south on Gregadoo Rd, wind was blowing the wrong way.... so I had the unpleasant smells of the Wagga tip to get me cycling faster!! Found another fun track up the back of Plumpton Hill, will have to go back when I have more time to explore | ||
Monday Oct 29 | ||
| Cycling (Mtb) 1:00:00 [3] | ||
| Went exploring this arvo, out to Boiling Down Rd and then went south down Redbank, nice quite track out to Plumpton Hills. A good long run track. Hip felt ok, bit tight at the start from sitting down all day | ||
Sunday Oct 28 | ||
| Running 1:35:00 [3] | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 (2) | ||
| Morning long run over Plumpton Hill, down into the Glen and out to Mangoplah Rd then turned around and came home. Nice overcast morning, got home just before the rain started. Left hip is starting to hurt more and more, started doing my stretches again, hopefully they should do the trick
| ||

| Arvo Willans. Haven't done this run for a while, felt pretty slow going up the hills but that was expected. All the tracks have been graded so not as many holes or loose gravel to avoid. | ||
Wednesday Oct 24 | ||
| Running 37:45 [3] | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 (2) | ||

| ||
| Running intervals 20:00 [5] | ||
| 8 x 500m with a 30-40sec recovery along Nelson Drive. Pushed it pretty hard for the first six, the last two were a bit of a half arse effort. Forgot to take water | ||
Monday Oct 22 | ||
| Cycling (Mtb) 1:05:00 [3] | ||
| Hot afternoon cycle... 33 degrees, its not summer yet :( Went up to plumpton hill and then out to mitchell rd via boiling down and then around the lake, not a bad cycle | ||
Sunday Oct 21 | ||
| Running 55:00 [3] | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 (2) | ||
| Same run as yesterday, but much more enjoyable conditions!! | ||
Saturday Oct 20 | ||
| Running 53:00 [4] | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 (2) | ||
| After an unexpected big night out on Friday my morning run was postponed to the arvo... not sure if this was the best option.... 3pm and 31 degrees it was a hot hot run, my body struggled. Went from Trents place along the bike track and then along the Murray and back again. Heart rate was unnaturally high, and really struggled during the last 10 mins. | ||
Friday Oct 19 | ||
| Running 1:06:30 [3] 13 km (5:07 / km) | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 (2) | ||
| Morning Boiling Down/Plumpton run, quite warm and sticky but otherwise nice. Felt a bit sluggish at the start, maybe its time to stop eating birthday cake?!?! Looking forward to a quite and relaxing weekend in Albury :) | ||
Thursday Oct 18 | ||
| Running 50:30 [3] | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 (2) | ||
| Morning streets. Was happy to be back out running after a couple of days off, knee felt pretty good, will have to see how it feels as the day progresses, seems to get sorer the more I sit down.
| ||
| Running 37:45 [3] | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 (2) | ||
| Very slow afternoon run around Lake Albert, at times it felt as thou I was running in the one spot!! The water level is dropping pretty fast and its starting to get that horrible smell again, especially around the southern end. | ||
Wednesday Oct 17 | ||
| Cycling (Mtb) 1:10:00 [3] | ||
| Too tired to join the 'ride to work bus' after yesterdays long day. Opted for my around Wagga ride in the arvo, added an extra bit in Glenfield and went around Lake Albert. Cycled past three know magpie swooping sites... but no maggies, yay!! Is the season over?? | ||
| C • maybe... 3 | ||
Tuesday Oct 16 | ||
| Note | ||
| (rest day) | ||
| Enforced rest day. Went to Sydney for 'Noise training' for work. Long long day, starting with the killer 6.30am flight... was made even longer with the flight home being delayed by an hour, got home at 9pm :(
By the end of the day my knee was terribly sore, probably cos I spent most of it sitting down
Monday Oct 15 | ||
| Cycling (Mtb) 1:03:00 [3] | ||
| Opted for a cycle over running again, pulled up with a really tight 'leg-inside knee areaish' after roadies on Saturday (didn't dance at the party so didnt pull any muscles then), which got progressively sorer yesterday, earliest I can get into the physio is next Monday :( Felt pretty tight and sore just walking around the office today.
Cycling was fine thou, didn't really have a plan of where I was going, went around Lake Albert which is getting really low and smelly, and then out to Mitchell Rd. Saw my first snake for the summer.... a 1m plus brown snake on the side of Plumpton Rd - thankfully it was dead.
Sunday Oct 14 | ||
| Note | ||
| (rest day) | ||
| Too tired and not motivated enough to do anything today except laze around.
Happy 50th bday Dad!! | ||

Sunday Oct 7 | ||
| Orienteering race (Oceania Relays) 40:04 [5] 5.3 km (7:34 / km) | ||
| shoes: Jalas - new | ||
| Ran in a Stingers-Cockatoo team with Jo and Mace. Jo went out first and came back in 2nd, just after Grace. Was really happy with my nav today, managed to keep my head for the entire race, legs were a big slow and heavy for the first few controls (prob cos I didnt cool down yestie). Didn't feel like a relay as I ran the entire race by myself, kept expecting Vanessa or Jenni to catch me. Handed over to Mace with a 6min lead. She had a good race aswell and we ended up winning by 5mins!! Yay!! Good way to finish off my o'ing year. | ||
| C • great stuff 3 | ||
Saturday Oct 6 | ||
| Event: Yellow Sub POP Party | ||
| Orienteering race (Oceania Champs) 1:22:36 [5] 8.1 km (10:12 / km) +300m 8:36 / km | ||
| shoes: Jalas - new | ||
| Probably made my biggest error before I even started the run.... whilst warming up realised my compass had a big bubble in it so swapped it with Dad for his fancy compass, with a big hole where the thumb sits.... felt really weird on the map and took a while to get used to it. But I can't blame my mistakes on that!! Took a wide route to no.2, thankfully hitting the fence prob a result of me getting used to the map and not looking where I was going, then I was too high for 4 and as a result ended up overrunning it. Caught Mace here, however, Jo and Penny caught us here as well. After these errors I started getting a hang of the mapping and didn't make any major errors from here on. Ended up coming 10th, 16mins behind Grace, which I know is a lot but I was expecting more. A really enjoyable area. | ||
Friday Oct 5 | ||
| Orienteering race (Oceania Sprint) 13:30 [5] 2 km (6:45 / km) | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 (2) | ||
| Oceania Sprint Champs at Radford College. Felt a lot better than I thought running today, especially after sitting in a car all morning. Didn't start off too cleanly, overrunning the first control, took a couple of legs to get used to the sacle of the map. At times I wasn't entirely sure what was out of bounds and what wasnt and took a pretty wide route choice from 3 to 4. Went to the last control before the 9th and lost a few seconds. Apart from these small errors was pretty happy with my run.
| ||
| Running warm up/down 10:00 [3] | ||
| Warm down jog with Kathryn
| ||
| Note | ||
| Stayed around to watch my parents and bro run in the sprint, ended up walking around most of Dad's course with him (as he's out injured with a stuffed knee at the moment). Surprising how little you actually look at the area when running compared to walking, I took in so more more detail strolling around (I also didn't remember being in some places earlier in the day...) | ||
Thursday Oct 4 | ||
| Running 52:15 [3] | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 (2) | ||
| Morning streets before another long day at work. Struggling to get used to how bright and sunny it is at 6.15am!! The only thing that reminded me that is was morning was how chilly it was, and the fact that there weren't too many cars driving around. | ||
Wednesday Oct 3 | ||
| Running 48:30 [3] | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 | ||
| Arvo Willans run. Feeling very tired after work today, got a taste of whats to come for me over the next 2 years.... the duplication of the Sheahans Bridge (@ Gundagai), is going to be my 'little hobbie'.... spent the day trying to understand how the thing is going to be constructed, too many engineering terms for me | ||
Tuesday Oct 2 | ||
| Running 1:04:15 [3] | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 13 (2) | ||
| 2 laps of Lake Albert, it's warming up!! Never really got into this run and my heart rate was unusually high for the pace I was running. Heaps of people out walking or riding this arvo, just wish some people would learn that they are not the only ones using the path... and maybe not walk right down the middle!! | ||
Monday Oct 1 | ||
| Orienteering race (Oceania Middle Champs) 42:59 [5] 3.9 km (11:01 / km) +170m 9:03 / km | ||
| shoes: Jalas - new | ||
| Managed to produce yet another poor performance for 07.... Started off ok, slow but I wanted to make sure I could read the map, then I lost it on no.7, just wasn't reading the contours right and ended up on the wrong side of the spur, relocated ok which was a bonus, but would have lost a good 2mins. From there on I navigated ok, stopped a bit too soon for a couple of controls. But physically I was struggling, was just feeling heavy and struggled to run hard through the terrain. I wasn't last so thats a bonus. At least I now have three days off to re-focus before the next races. | ||
