Orienteering 42:40 [3] 5.4 km (7:54 / km)
shoes: Jalas - new
Went out to Connorton a bit early this morn to run the long course I set for the interclub, just for a bit more bush running practice. Put the controls out yestie in the opposite direction to what the course ran so I did actually have to navigate a bit.

Rain held off all morning, and was a pretty good event, Wagga beat Albs 8 to 5 so we win this years challenge. No one got lost... and Trent even made an appearance and had a good run on the orange course.

Orienteering 30:00 [2]
shoes: Jalas - new
Collecting controls... thanks mum and dad for helping, I was freezing by this stage

Saturday Aug 30

Orienteering 1:40:00 [2]
shoes: Jalas - new
Lovely morning putting out controls at Connorton for tomorrows final Interclub Challenge with Albury. Took me a while to get used to carrying a backpack whilst jogging but it was a lot easier than lugging around control stands!! Even had time to take in the views towards the Rock :), between trying to work out which rock was which!! Good training orienteering tho. And thanks Mum for putting out the Blue/Green/Orange controls :)

Please please Please don't rain tomorrow morning!! I hope I haven't inherited the "it always rains when a Davey sets an event!!" trait

Running 15:09 [5] 3.5 km (4:20 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2)
Road Runners handicap race @ Willans. I usually dread handicap however today I had the extra challenge of Trent having a nearly 4min head start on me, pushed it pretty hard and felt pretty good considering my mornings exercise. Didnt quite catch him, could see him just ahead on the downhill track finish, he had a good run 50secs faster than last time.

Can't really log the jog there, only took 5 mins from home and we walked back as we were both full after the post race saucage sizzle

Friday Aug 29

Running 45:00 [3]

Running 1:23:00 [3] 16.5 km (5:02 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2)
3 laps of Lake Albert, struggle town!! Not sure what my time was as I'm not used to having to 'charge' my watch and it died after 1.5laps :( Maybe it was for the best cos I was feeling pretty dead by the end and my hip was super sore

Brad K is back in Wagga and was doing his best to nearly getting hit by a car this arvo, passed him cycling on my way out to the lake... on his bike and talking on his mobile phone....

Wednesday Aug 27

Running 30:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2)
Morning streets... forgot my watch so guessing the time. Don't know where my mind was today as I nearly stacked it on a flat bitumen road, would have been rather embarrasing!!

Running intervals 25:00 [5]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2)
Intervals at the cycle track. Did my pyramid set again this week but I somehow managed to miss my last 200m rep, lost count. Felt so so much better than last week, groin/hip only started hurting during the last few reps.

Mum and Dad joined me today, Dad made up his own session and I'm not sure what Mum did.... ran around the track 8 times I think?!?!

Running warm up/down 15:00 [2]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2)

Pilates 30:00 [2]

Sunday Aug 24

Orienteering race 59:46 [5] 8 km (7:28 / km)
shoes: Jalas - new
NSW SL 12 @ Arthursleigh. So so much better than yesterday!! I could actually run :) Fast spur gully terrain, so had to keep in contact all the time. Didn't make any major errors, got a bit confused by the tracks on the long (2.5km) leg but apart from that I was happy.

Running warm up/down 5:00 [2]
shoes: Jalas - new
Very short warm up and no cool down

Saturday Aug 23

Event: NSW Middle Distance Champs

Orienteering race (NSW Middle Champs) 57:41 [5] 4.6 km (12:32 / km) +95m 11:22 / km
shoes: Jalas - new
NSW Middle Distance Champs at 'Baronga Creek' and one to forget!! Lost my bush legs over the last 5 weeks and really struggled to constantly lift them up over all the fallen crap on the ground (and my legs show it :( ).

Did ok to the first 5 controls but then it feel apart, stopped to short for 6, dont really know what happened at 8. Had caught Russel here (sorry if I put you off!!). 12 was a mess, found another drinks controls on a termite mound very close to ours, then ended up relocating off the track and finding the same wrong control again!! argh!! And finally 16, overran it big big time!!

Messy messy run, hopefully thats my bad run over for a long time!!

Wednesday Aug 20

Running 1:07:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2)
First run over an hour since before we went o/s, wasn't as bad as I thought since I had spent most of the day in the car, or ploding around the Sheahans site.... groin/hammy held up pretty well for the first 40mins but started to hurt at the end, did heaps of stretching last night so had better do that again tonight.

Tuesday Aug 19

Running intervals 25:00 [5]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2)
Dragged myself to the cycle track for the first time this year (oops) to do some intervals. Did a pryamid session (100x2, 200x2, 400x2 800x1 all by x2), started off ok but groin was killing me by the end :( Times a little slower than last year, but I'm not nearly as fit as I was then

Running warm up/down 15:00 [3]

Strength and Conditioning 20:00 [2]
ouch

Monday Aug 18

Running 32:10 [3] 6 km (5:22 / km)

Willans loop, feeling a bit tight and sore after yesterday, especially in the groin and hamstring on my right leg, so a nice short stretch of the legs.

C • Great running on the weeken... 1

Sunday Aug 17

Event: Wagga Wagga Trail Marathon

Running race 47:36 [5] 11 km (4:20 / km) vdot: 47.7
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2)
Wagga Trail Marathon Relay - last leg in an RTA team. Thankfully the fog had cleared and wasn't too cold by the time I started... the other guys in my team had pretty good runs so I think we were in 6th or so place by the time I headed out.

Pretty happy with my run given my not so good prep, ran with my iPod to give me that bit more motivation, plus Trent cycled out to meet me at the start and then rode the last 3km next to me. Surprised with my time as well, but was happy to beat Dad!!

Really good event, hopefully next year it'll get advertised a bit more, the relay was heaps of fun!!
C • Cool! 3

Saturday Aug 16

Running 15:26 [4] 3.5 km (4:25 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2)
Road Runners at Willans, short course today in the hope to save any energy I have for tomorrow, most people did the same. Didn't feel too bad, still struggling with my fitness and coughing.

Running warm up/down 10:00 [2]
Easy jog to and from Roadies with Trent

Pilates 30:00 [2]

Friday Aug 15

Running 51:00 [3]

C • which leg? 3

Thursday Aug 14

Running 57:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2)
Arvo run up to the top of Willans and then along the ridge line to Red Hill, struggled up the hills, my legs just didnt want to work. Thankfully my cold is nearly gone, wasn't coughing quite as much today.

Wednesday Aug 13

Running 25:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Enduro
Long intervals on Willans, don't think I've done these since before Tassie... oops!! Still struggling with my cold so didn't feel like I was getting enough air!! Was joined by the parentals today (Mum is getting a bit worried bout the Marathon Relay this weekend... last minute training!!), Dads running well at the moment.

4 x 1.3km (5.54,5.55, 6.02 and 6.30 - exhausted by now so just mid pace, plus someone took the drink bottle back to the car and I was thirsty!!)

Running warm up/down 15:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Enduro
Slow warm up with Mum and Dad, had to show Mum where the track went. Jogged home for the cool down.
C • where? 5

Tuesday Aug 12

Cycling (Road) (windtrainer) 1:10:00 [3]
shoes: Shimano
Had kinda planned on going running, but still can't shake the cold and it was raining, so opted for the trainer, got a nice bit of reading done :)

Strength and Conditioning 20:00 [3]
Hadn't done this for a while and it hurt

Monday Aug 11

Running 54:58 [3] 11 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2)
My lack of running over the past 3 weeks showed itself today, first lap of Lake Albert was fine but the second not so great, hamstrings started to get really tight and I generally felt sluggish (cold prob doesnt help). My abs were hurting as well, I'm guessing as a result of all the coughing I've been doing of a morning and not any ab work.

Pilates 30:00 [2]
I will be feeling this tomorrow!!

Sunday Aug 10

Running 31:30 [3] 6 km (5:15 / km)
shoes: Asics Enduro
What a welcome home... leaving Rome on Friday morning in 35degree heat and arriving in Wagga on Sunday arvo to 7degrees and rain... argh!! I am so over flying at the moment!! Trip was great thou, lots and lots of sightseeing and eating (and drinking), but not too much running at all, thou made up for some of that with a lot of walking. Unfortunately got a cold in Florence, so have been struggling with that over the past few days, spending so much time in airconditioned buildings/planes prob hasnt helped.

Had been feeling really motivated after the woc public races to get back into proper training when I got home..... was hard today to go, the rain and my cold neary held me back. Went up on Willans and did my 6km loop, felt surprisinlgy good, but throat was so sore by the end.
C • welcome home! 3
