| Running 40:00 [3] | ||
| shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion | ||
| Morning streets, felt yesterdays training the moment I walked down the front steps... need to stretch more. Just plodded along today, cept I ran my loop in the wrong direction and dreaded the climb up Macklay St at the end, it wasn't fun.
Walked to work today for the first time, took about 30mins which isn't to bad, really should do it more ofter. However, forgot to take a change of shoes so spent the day in my runners, whoops, lucky I was wearing jeans so it didnt look too bad!! Also ended up having more blood tests today, they didn't take as much as last time thou so that was good, I just hate needles :(
| Gym (Circuit) 1:00:00 [3] | ||
| Went to circuit with Trent, not as bad as earlier this week (more weights than running). The warmup makes me laugh thou, its like a funny dance. | ||
Thursday Oct 30 | ||
| Running 1:04:00 [3] 12.5 km (5:07 / km) | ||
| shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion | ||
| Morning run with Belinda and Emma, and Skye and Larry (Belinda's two Labradors). From Emma's place in town, mainly went along the river which was really nice in the morning. Good to run in a group for a change, will hopefully make it a weekly thing (when work permits). The dogs had more energy than the 3 of us at the start, swimming and running fast, but they had slowed down by the end.
| ||
| Running warm up/down 20:00 [3] 4 km (5:00 / km) | ||
| shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion | ||
| Decided to do some hill intervals this arvo. Jog to and home, was wondering what I was doing on my warm up jog... so warm :(
| ||
| Running 25:00 [4] 3.5 km (7:09 / km) +125m 6:04 / km | ||
| shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion | ||
| 5 x 350m hill intervals.... yuck (time includes recoveries back down the hill). First one was a 'test run', not pushing it too hard to work out my slowest time (1.55), from then on I pushed it harder (1.49, 1.47, 1.51, 1.49), they hurt. Mum joined me just for the intervals as she hasn't been able to cycle much this week since Dads away for work all week (aka. meetings, free lunches and golf) | ||

Wednesday Oct 29 | ||
| Running 46:30 [3] 8.8 km (5:17 / km) | ||
| shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion | ||
| Morning streets plod, feeling a lot better than yestie arvo, still tight in the legs thou. Was meant to get my blood test results this morn, but turned up at the doctors at 8.30am and she was already 3 patients behind!! Changed it to Friday now
| ||
| Cycling (Road) (Windtrainer) 45:00 [3] | ||
| shoes: Jalas - new | ||
| Nice easy session on the trainer, did consider going mtb'ing but there was a horrible gusty wind. Got to do some reading which was good.
| ||
| Gym (Circuit) 45:00 [3] | ||
| shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion | ||
| Joined the gym today. Trent and I went to a circuit class, he hadn't been to this one before and not sure when he'll go again, so much cardio!! Was pretty tough, lots of short sprints and then lots more short sprints with hand weights, then we went outside and did some longer sprints - with the hand weights, all this mixed in with pushups, situps etc... lets see how I feel tomorrow!! | ||
Tuesday Oct 28 | ||
| Running 1:00:00 [3] 11 km (5:27 / km) | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2) | ||
| 2 x Willans loops. Couldn't believe how horrible I felt this arvo... the entire run was one massive effort, the hills felt twice as steep as usual!!, was close to 30 degrees thou so I guess (I hope) it'll take a couple of warm ones before my body gets used to it. I had wanted to do 3 loops but every part of my body was saying no. | ||
Monday Oct 27 | ||
| Running intervals 15:00 [5] 3 km (5:00 / km) | ||
| shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion | ||
| Intervals @ Jubilee with Mark and others. Will take another few sessions before I get used to doing intervals again. Time includes 5 x 400m with recoveries, did my last two with Belinda which helped cos I was exhausted
| ||
| Running warm up/down 15:00 [3] | ||
| shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion | ||
| Warm up and cool down laps of the track. Then did heaps of stretching with the little kids.
| ||
| Pilates 30:00 [2] | ||
Sunday Oct 26 | ||
| Orienteering (AWOC Club Champs) 1:22:30 [4] 7.2 km (11:28 / km) | ||
| shoes: Jalas - new | ||
| Headed down to Yackandandah with the fam for the Albury Club Champs, at a new map called 'Rowdy Flat'. A very technical (waterourses, gullies, mining, caves), flat and scrubby area. I picked the Men's Long - 4.5km course.... and to make things more interesting the scale was 1:5000 and there were no contours either....
It was hard... I got myself so confused going to the first control that I ended up coming back out to the main track to relocate, once I finally found it I made a 90 error running back towards the start, relocated ok of the tracks but then took a wrong track and yeh.... Slowed down after I found 2 and tried to read the detail more, and had to keep reminding myself of the scale!! In the end I made a few more errors but my confindence grew as I went along... thou I ended up dnf'ing after the 16th control (out of 20) as I was starting to feel dehydrated (no water that I knew of out there) and was tiring. Is a pretty good area and I'll be keen to get back there next year. Its apparently a pretty popular mtb area, so much so that bike size timber bridges have been built over a lot of the gullies/watercourses!! Went to Yackandandah Bakery for lunch, not quite as good as the Beechworth but pretty yummy See 'Golfers' log for the map
| C • wow that sounds like a real... 2 | ||

Saturday Oct 25 | ||
| Running 37:00 [5] 8 km (4:38 / km) | ||
| shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion | ||
| Road Runners @ Wiradjuri reserve. End of month handicap race and prob the best one I'd run in. Usually I hate handicap but this week I was picking people off ahead of me and passing people for once and I ran exactly the same time as 3 weeks ago (I'm usually slower at handicaps). Really starting to warm up weather wise thou :( | ||
Friday Oct 24 | ||
| Running 1:16:00 [3] 15 km (5:04 / km) | ||
| shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion | ||
| Moved my longish run for this week as I've got roadies and o'ing over the weekend. Felt really good for the first hour of this run, then just got slower and slower, plus my tummy wanted breakfast. | ||
Thursday Oct 23 | ||
| Running 40:30 [3] | ||
| shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion | ||
| Morn run into town and around the lagoon, still pretty chilly at this time of day, guess I shouldn't complain!!
| ||
| Running 55:20 [3] 11 km (5:02 / km) | ||
| shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion | ||
| Wollundry Loop. Started off way too slow so was pushing it hard at the end. Really enjoy this run, nice and peaceful down along the river, which is also looking a fair bit higher than last week. | ||
Wednesday Oct 22 | ||
| Orienteering 14:43 [4] 2.4 km (6:08 / km) | ||
| shoes: Asics Enduro | ||
| Dad set two short courses on Pommy. Took me a while to get used to running in the bush, really needed to use my compass more and not rely on my knowledge of the area. Saw lots of wildlife, one massive goanna scrambling up a tree, which caused me to quickly change my route and some very large Kangaroos
| ||
| Orienteering 12:53 [4] 2.1 km (6:08 / km) | ||
| shoes: Asics Enduro | ||
| Felt a lot better this time, thou still needed to use my compass more as was way too high on two controls. Think Dad just beat me on this one. Fun to do some bush training thou.

| Running 30:00 [3] | ||
| shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion | ||
| Morning streets, so many people out running and riding this morning, it was weird!!
| ||
| Running 1:06:30 [3] | ||
| shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion | ||
| Arvo hilly then flat run, these shoes aren't the best for Willans rocky tracks, will have to switch when I run there. Tried to push it hard over the last 2kms | ||
Monday Oct 20 | ||
| Running 13:30 [4] 2.8 km (4:49 / km) | ||
| shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion | ||
| Back to Monday night intervals at the track with Mark... I really really need to work on my speed over summer!! All I did today was a couple of laps warm up, a 400m time trial (which was embarrassingly slow!!) and then a couple of laps cool down.
Mark is now going to work out a program for me over the summer months, mainly doing 400m, but when it gets super hot will prob drop down to 200m. A good group of Wagga Roadies seem to be going now so that should make it more enjoyable.
| Pilates 30:00 [3] | ||
| Given I didn't even crack the 20min mark at the track thought I'd better do something else when I got home. | ||
Sunday Oct 19 | ||
| Running 45:00 [3] | ||
| shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion | ||
| An interesting morning run, I was feeling horrible.... head was pounding, stomach not good and my calves and feet were killing me after wearing stupid heels yesterday :(
Managed to keep myself occupied thou, counted 5 shopping trolley's which had appeared overnight - including one out the front of our house. Plus spotted 3 people doing the morning 'walk of shame' after a big day/night at the races. Last km was slow as I stopped into the servo and picked up 2L of milk, I must have looked pretty stupid running down the street with it!!
| Cycling (Mtb) 1:40:00 [3] 26 km (3:51 / km) | ||
| Arvo mtb ride with Trent and Jonesy. Was heaps of fun, we went along the Wiradjuri walking track, minus the bit around Pommy. Included a bit of 'weights' as we had to lift our bikes over 8 styles along the way - well I attempted too but Jonesy ended up lifting mine most of the time as I'm a weakling. Trent did well for the first 10km, but then his hungoverness really began to show!! | ||
Saturday Oct 18 | ||
| Running 1:11:00 [3] | ||
| shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion | ||
| No roadies for me today, opting for the local 'Ag Races' instead.... Woke up with super sore arms and abs from last night but I guess that was expected!! | ||
Friday Oct 17 | ||
| Running 31:15 [3] | ||
| shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion | ||
| Two days and 1500km later I returned to Wagga... Interesting trip, encountering wild goats and goanna's during my inspection (which took me nearly to Broken Hill!!). Needed a run to stretch out the legs when I got home, was good.
| ||
| Gym (Circuit) 1:00:00 [3] | ||
| shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion | ||
| Trent finally convinced me to go to the gym with him (has probably been over a year since I last went). Did my first ever circuit class, wasn't as bad as I thought, lots of weights, sit ups and some jogging. Was pretty stuffed by the end thou. | ||

| Morning run before I drive to Wentworth..... | ||
Wednesday Oct 15 | ||
| Running 26:19 [4] 5.5 km (4:47 / km) | ||
| shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion | ||
| Lap of the Lake with Dad. Really didn't have the evergy for running as I'd spent the day down in Albury/Corowa for work but we glad I did it. Let Dad wear my garmin, so he spent a fair bit of time looking at it (or trying to cos the numbers are pretty small....) | ||
Tuesday Oct 14 | ||
| Running 56:00 [3] 11 km (5:05 / km) | ||
| shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion | ||
| Hammy was saying no for the first 10mins, then slowly started to feel better, either that or I was focusing too much on looking out for snakes!! Nice plod around the Wollundry walking track, worried about snakes along the river and everytime I heard a rustle in the grass my pace picked up.
Had to make a slight detour when I got back into town, went via Grans place and got a drink from her front yard, thanks :)

| Cycling (Road) (windtrainer) 1:00:00 [3] | ||
| shoes: Shimano | ||
| Spent the day putting this off as my quads were feeling tight from yestie, but needed to do something. Waited until it was lunch on the cricket before I headed outside and sat on the trainer. Nice storm passed through whilst I was riding but then it got even more humid and sweaty | ||

| Event: Melbourne Marathon | ||
| Running race (Melbourne Half) 1:38:10 [5] 21.1 km (4:39 / km) vdot: 46.1 | ||
| shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion | ||
| I knew this was going to be harder than the Canb Half, but I felt like crap for the entire run :( Not a good morning.
Started off pretty slow due to the 7500 odd crowd, and didn't really feel like I was stretching out til the 3km mark. By the 10km my aim was to keep running (and breathing!!) and just finish. Didn't look at my watch the entire run to save further dissapointment. The excitment of finishing in the MCG had kinda worn off by the time I got there, as I ran in saw what time I was on and was surprised (had been thinking Id be on 100-105), seemed to take ages to do a the lap of the stadium. So so exhausted when I finished, couldn't even open my powerade bottle!! It is a nice course thou, however the smell blowing in from the ocean wasn't exactly what I would call pleasant!! Dad had a good run despite his achilles probs doing 103. Mum was super happy and surprised with her 62mins in the 10km. Saw Shan finishing just as we were leaving, 3.15.07 for the Marathon and still looking strong as she ran into the stadium :) Now its time for an easy couple of weeks, and wait for my blood test results to come back.
| C • Well done Briohny! Great tr... 6 | ||
Saturday Oct 11 | ||
| Running 40:00 [3] | ||
| shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion | ||
| Easy morn jog before heading down to Melbs, was feeling a bit off, prob due to the large amount of blood that got sucked out of me on Friday arvo, started thinking that prob wasn't a good idea 2 days before the half.
Nice arvo in St Kilda with the fam, and a yummo b'day dinner for Mum and Dad (early).
Friday Oct 10 | ||
| Running 46:00 [3] 8.8 km (5:14 / km) | ||
| shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion | ||
| Morning streets plod, chilly morning and my hands seemed to stay super cold for the entire run. Really didn't want to get out of bed and run today, but got sports massage at lunch and then blood tests in the arvo so was the only option | ||
Thursday Oct 9 | ||
| Running 24:59 [5] 5.5 km (4:33 / km) | ||
| shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion | ||
| Last fast hit out before the weekend (and cos I didn't have time to do anything longer). Lap of Lake Albert, prob started a bit to slow but felt I finished strongly | ||
| C • Good luck! 3 | ||
Wednesday Oct 8 | ||
| Running 1:06:30 [3] 13 km (5:07 / km) | ||
| shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion | ||
| Flat then hilly run, faster than I had originally planned to run but I had originally planned to have company..... but Dad's achilles is playing up and he thought it best he rest it before Sunday. Got swooped for the first time along Glenfield Rd, he only had one go which was good.
Weird site on Willans... a lady and her daughter walking two ducklings...
Tuesday Oct 7 | ||
| Running intervals 25:00 [4] | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2) | ||
| 4 x 1.3km intervals on Willans. Still managed to cop a good blasting from the wind even thou I was under tree cover. Starting to get a bit worried about snakes.... maybe that will speed me up a bit!!
| ||
| Running warm up/down 10:00 [3] | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2) | ||
| Jog to and from Willans. Dad drove past on his way home from work so stopped and had a chat to him

| Running 43:15 [3] 8.8 km (4:55 / km) | ||
| shoes: Adidas - Adistar Cushion | ||
| After a nice sleep in and breakfast I thought I'd better go for a run before the wind got any worse. Felt pretty good and pushed reasonalbly hard, even up Macklay St at the end.

| Running 1:30:00 [3] | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2) | ||
| Hilly morning run, 3 x Willans loop, prob around 16km. Last loop was a killer, the hills seemed twice as big. Glad I didnt opt out of this run for a flat one thou | ||
| Note | ||
| Just looked at the forecast for Melb next Sunday, at the moment its 28 degrees!! I won't be complaining now about the 7am start for the half :)

| Running race 37:00 [5] 8 km (4:38 / km) vdot: 43.2 | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel Kayano 14 (2) | ||
| Road Runners from Wiradjuri reserve, mostly along the river. I enjoy this course, however its always run when its starting to warm up and I seem to struggle, today was no different and it was pretty humid after last nights rain. | ||
Friday Oct 3 | ||
| Running 47:00 [3] | ||
