Colonels drive middle

Another very enjoyable race this one, lovely woods and lovely quickish terrain. Not too bothered about dissecting it really, could’ve collected a few seconds here and there, maybe a minute to #4, but just had a blast and that’s the main take home I feel. Legs sufficient, lacking some zip but not slogging.

Holme fell - Black

Enjoyed this one quite a lot actually, at one point near the end I wished there was more course although i only felt like that for about three seconds and then gladly finished. Went well initially, was taking extra time to read the map and get things right, a strategy which I then unsuccessfully used to #8 for my first mistake - really hesitant into the correct valley and was expecting to just see the control, should’ve stopped and figured that out but instead lost a load of height on a whim then had to swelter back up again once I realised where I was.

Quite nice back through the woods to #12, good nav in there, then lost a minute or two just being confused at #13. Next bit was quite fun, slog to #16 but from there to #20 was my favourite bit of the course. #20 itself I was being overly optimistic about how far uphill I needed to be, a frustrating time loss close to the end, but thankfully clean to the end from there. Legs felt good today, not amazing but much improved from Thursday, saying that I was still completely cooked upon finishing, although mostly just dehydrated.

post rg thoughts - quite a lot of pleasing nav in there tbf, just so frustrating at #8, what a tragedy.

High rigg

Tragic lack of legs sadly, calves both tying up again and generally feeling tired. Bungled #1 and the finish leg but otherwise pretty solid. Lovely fell wish i’d taken some time to look at the view.
