Surfing (ScoobyDoo) 1:00:00 [3]

Same as yesterday, tried new leash that was a bit longer and definetely a bit more uncomfortable. We bought a new curly one afterwards. The new fins seems to work ok.

Single track at Timberlake, Fort Walton Beach, Eglin reservation. Trails are all prety fun, only a few sandy spots (green loop has more sand). Wonderful weather (upper 60s?) and barely made it back before dark.

Note

Sope Creek, Atlanta, Georgia (Georgia Club)

Orienteering race 1:36:00 [4] 5.6 km (17:09 / km) +260m 13:55 / km
shoes: Inov8

Sope Creek is pretty nice terrain too, not as steep as Oak Mountain, so it made for a less sliding and climbing on all fours.

Still quite runnable terrain, except some vines here and there, they'll bring you to a full stop (not that I was speeding or anything). Good course setup, and quite a bit crowd too (~120?)

Good mountain biking on both parks, need to remember to bring bikes next time.

The Sope Creek is a nice looking huge rocky "creek", with some pretty nice mansions aling side. The course took you by some house too, so I got a bit distracted there.

Did a bit of improvement since day before, I wish I could train a bit more often!

Thanks so much to Charlie, Chris and Lisa for setting event this up!

Oak Mountain State Park - Pelham, AL (Vulcan Club)

Orienteering race 1:54:00 [4] 6.1 km (18:41 / km) +440m 13:44 / km
shoes: Inov8

Travelled this weekend with Robby to Birmingham and Atlanta for 2 local events.

The Oak Mountain is a beautiful terrain, very runnable, no briars whatsoever, tons of hills (maybe a bit too much on this course :), and we had great weather for it too!

Got a bit turnaround, maybe cause I was not used with the 5m countours, and some pretty serious ridges and valeys were not on the map. I think with some effort of fieldchecking, this would be a great terrain for orienteering.

Thanks so much to Joey, James and Anne for setting this up.
