Laramie Daze - day 6 (last one this year, awwwww)

The one cowboy relay. The perfect ending to this event. 4 loopdy loops about 1 k each, mixed up, and 5th loop same for all. So you got to both navigate on your own as well as hang out with the old gang.

I had same first 2 loops w/ Charlie and Sam, and after that on my own for 2 loops. By know you knew everyone that was about your speed so I looked for Sam/Gavin/Sue/Craig and sure enough they all caught up w/ me on the last loop. I kinda pushed it a bit fast on the first few loops, but still managed to lead for a while, till last 2 controls when Gavin obvioulsy had more endurance, pulled off around some rocks and I was never able to catch to him. Finished 22nd, and 3rd woman, and got me a wyoming rock!

Great event...let's see how I get Robby to do it next time too :)

Laramie Daze - day 5 - pelican bay (by now I figured each map has a name, it's not just "laramie map")

It started cool, which seemed just fine with me in a tanktop from Florida, though a lot of mates were sporting some fancy jackets and all....

It's all good till I'm heading to 3 ...and get to it, but then after that not much made sense. So I said let's go back to 3, cause maybe, only maybe that was not 3. Sure enough, after a mud splash, determined that could not have been 3, and sure enough it was 4. By now, my time to get back to work was limited, and since I got to 4 twice, I considered I explored the area/sites good enough and headed to 5, (and marked my results sheet with MP #3, so Im not getting none of that non-existing prizes I guess :):) Rest of course was reasonably ok, I did noticed a bubble in my compass and stopped using it much...who knows.

So on my way back to work I was a bit tuckered out, since I didn't do so well, but my mom called, gave some great news that cheered me up, and told me I was not orienteering today, I was disorienteering :)

Another great day, once I got over the hump:) And tomorrow I have an extra hour so I can lolygag on the cowgirl relay to my hearts content. Wonder if I should wear my cowgirl gear.....

Laramie Daze - day 4

Since I have to work I only have time for short. So today short was cutting from 4 to 9. So I didn;t hang out with my pack much. From 4 I pretty much led, as there was not much to lead that is. I think I only saw 2 people that seemed to be on short behind me. There were a couple controls that seemed off a bit, but could also be my navigation, or compass or the time of day or who knows. (3 seemed a bit south comparing with the line of vegetation, then last control was a bit high - I took a directtion from previous control and was follwoing pery good and ended up quite a bit down). But those are just nothings in perpective of being able to run and work, and enjoy the woods!

Another great day!Thanks Mikell.

Laramie daze - day 3 - the goat

Today was a great day to race ... I had my water my snack , probably still digesting my 2 starch sides from dinner last night , no problem keeping up with my pack though I need to get faster to help out with leading the pack too... Well what can I expect with2 runs in the past month :)

I see I didn't make it on the "official" results (I think I'm listed as Stina ... Sounds like a cool name:) well lim always surprised when people understand my handwriting as I can't most times.

I sure enjoyed today. Nice pack ( we pretty much figured out who's who ... But I still vote for name
Tags!) . Memory test: Ted, Gavin , Sue , Kris, Kathleen , Sam , Craig , Mark (though not sure where we lost him )

Thanks Mikell again and all them orienteers that make this sport fun!

Laramie daze - day 2

BOY - OH -BOY! that's all I got to say. All dandy till about control 8, but it appears just a little packet of oatmeal and no water with me did not provide enough fuel for this. 8-13 still able to keep up with my slow but fun pack, and after 13 it was walk, pray, sit down and rest...repeat. I did make it :) still smiling in the finish line, I saw all controls, and I learned a lesson ...eat more, bring water :)

Another wonderful day in the mountains...and now onto the brew tasting :)

Event: Laramie Daze

Orienteering race 1:16:00 [4] 6.4 km (11:52 / km)
shoes: Inov8

Laramie daze day 1. I think I can count on one hams how many mass start events I did. I enjoyed the views and the company and having someone to cross the marshes with. The hr was not too bad but I still could not jog up them hills .

Thanks Mikell for setting all these up

I be looking to see how I can work it to do the mon-wed events too.
