Orienteering race 1:05:33 [5] 5.0 km (13:07 / km)
shoes: Integrators

manitou lake (where was the lake??), Co springs

BEAUTIFUL! By now, my altitude sickness was all gone (must have been the enchilada the night before... or the beer, I'm no sure just yet!)

Woods were so open, i dared to go out w/ a sleevless shirt and came back with only one iddy-biddy scratch. For all I know you could probably run in a swimsuit there, if you have gaitors! Anyway, i started walking to no 1 (cause I figured from the day before running is out of question). then to no 2 i had to cross a field, so i thought, maybe i'll try running... and i ran, and ran and felt good and all that. and saw poor charlie going back to no 2 (he was not happy, needless to say). well, i was, cause i felt good and nailed pretty much everything, ...till no 10...oh, well, don;t get over confident, right?!?! So, I looked at my garmin route, and it seems I deviated left this time, passed the darn spur, confused it with the next one, ran/walked up (of course kept on deviating, right), but after 5min I figured that I could not have been that wrong, decided to go to the field and relocate, and got to the control (plus other people were there...). so this added say 8-9 min. otherwise, beautiful weather, liked the woods, terrain, cannot complain.

GOOD JOB TO THE COURSE SETTER! (forgot the name).

On the way to denver I took a hike through the Garden of the Gods... just as beautiful as the first time I was there! i could not have enough... as i was heading to the airport i'm realizing how much I missed and will miss the mountains. Need to plan a trip back soon...

Orienteering 1:17:04 [4] ***

Saylor park, Co Springs, Green course

First orienteering event of the season!! (if i don't count the kiddie course i setup at the youth camp and the AR that robby did all the work).

luckily, the altitude slowed me down so much (to a walk, and a sit down on occasion) that my fogged out orienteering skills could catch up with my "running" speed. i never had such a bad altitude issue, was dizzy before i left, during the event... and after (well, after the beer might have added a bonus).

I mostly "nailed" everything, except for no 3 (a bunch of rocks). I looked at my garmin route, and it seems like as soon as i hit the rockage, i deviated to the right, instead of left... and there went 10 min or so. whihc did not matter much cause i was not sprintin it either. oh, 1 was a bobble too, cause I have fobia of going close to start so i deviated right, could not believe the marsh was the marsh, so i crossed it... and finally realized that yes, that was the marsh and got to the control pretty easy.

good orienteering "tailgating", great company and awesome chicken mole enchilada! yum!! too much though, my tummy was inflated for hours :)
