Step into Life group (Cardio) 1:00:00 [2] 3.0 km (20:00 / km)
shoes: Grey mizumos

Took the cardio session this morning; time trials around the lake. I was just jogging in the opposite direction to the participants.

Step into Life group 1:00:00 [5] 5.0 km (12:00 / km)
shoes: Grey mizumos

Walked to Weeroona Oval for the evening cardio session. We did a 5km time trial running around the lake. It was pretty hot tonight, so stopped to drink from the water bubblers regularly. My 5km Time was 28:22, so my run rate was 5:35. Walked home afterwards.

MTB ride 3:12:00 [3] 46.0 km (4:10 / km)

This morning Judy and I rode from Bright to Myrtleford (a very gentle roll downhill most of the way), then drove to Everton where Judy dropped me off to ride toBeechworth. This is a constant uphill ride, but goes through rather lovely terrain.

Prepared for and led the cardio group this morning. It was quite intense I think, and as there were only 5 participants, I was able to join in on much of it.

orienteering 1:29:40 [4] 8.77 km (10:13 / km)
shoes: Salomon speed cross 4

We entered the 3 hour maxi event at Glenluce, but decided that 90mins would be enough for us today. The forest was beautiful with flowers of all colours. Terrain was steep in parts, with fallen timber, some thick areas of vegetation. Had to give up looking for control 22 because I was going to run out of time. After only getting 7 controls and 25 mins left, had a mad dash run along the track to get to the finish on time... had 20 secs to spare!

Took the morning group for a run/jog along the creek. Had to start very slow because of a sore knee, but this resolved with persistence and was able to run harder as I attempted to herd people along....

Step into Life group (Cardiomax) 1:00:00 [3] 5.66 km (10:36 / km)

Attended the late cardio session and we went on another run, this time to Rosalind Park and back to the oval along Bernard Street.

orienteering 1:18:36 [3] 7.31 km (10:45 / km)
shoes: Salomon speed cross 4

Went for a run with Neil using the Wildflower Drive map. We visited all of the control sites from today’s event and collected a few controls still out. We were both very dismayed at the proliferation of MTBtrails in recent years.

orienteering race (Oceania middle) 1:05:56 [4] ***** 4.19 km (15:44 / km) +170m 13:05 / km
shoes: Salomon speed cross 4

Oceania middle distance championship race today on terrain that’s been mapped recently for this championship event. It’s got steep parts and has a lot of granite, some open areas and blackberries going rampant in the creeks. Tough event and my worst orienteering this week. I had difficulty navigating to controls 6, 7 and 8.

orienteering race (Oceania Long) 1:18:34 [5] ***** 6.01 km (13:04 / km) +190m 11:17 / km
shoes: Salomon speed cross 4

Long distance Oceania championship races on the Kangaroo Crossing map. This is tough steep and rocky terrain. It was a very warm day and many people were short of water. I was happy that I’d taken water with me on the course.

orienteering race 1:25:17 [4] 6.2 km (13:45 / km)
shoes: Salomon speed cross 4

Public race on the Connorton map at Wagga Wagga. This is hilly granite terrain with native cedar vegetation. It was hot (31 degrees), so I’m very glad that I had my trusty camel pack on board. Too hot to run the entire race, so much of the roughest terrain and uphill climb was walked. I was very lucky to see a lace monitor while out on the course. It would have been 1.3m long and I stopped to admire it.

orienteering race (Sprint) 21:33 [4] **** 3.2 km (6:44 / km)
shoes: Blue Salomon speed cross

School sprint (public event) following the schools championship sprint, at Kildare Catholic College. Originally I entered the c course, but changed at the last minute, to the b course (there was less queueing time for the course). A bit of fun....
