long slow run long 1:52:00 [3] 16.0 km (7:00 / km) +250m 6:30 / km

The long Sunday morning runs are much more interesting if the Pensioner and I can find somewhere different to run. Today we went to Moliagul, ran among the old gold diggings for a few km and then ran up (well, ran up most of) Mt Moliagul (it was too steep near the top). At the top we were treated with 360 degrees of lovely views of Central Victoria. Wonder where to go next week?...
We were using a useless mud map from Tyrone Thomas's Central Victoria walking guide, and had difficulty following it while running around the gold diggings. We went to the site where the Welcome Stranger nugget was found. The area could be pretty good for orienteering, because of its varied terrain - the gold diggings can be quite complex (but there are many mine shafts) and the slopes of the mountain are very rocky and tough going, with some mining detail.

MTB ride 40:00 [2]

With a day off work, I headed off for an hour of fun riding, but fell while riding downhill a bit too fast for the conditions after 20 mins, left a bit of skin on the track and broke my light - didn't feel like continuing.

rode to & from work 1:00:00 [3] 22.0 km (2:44 / km)

There's ANOTHER magpie - this one on the Calder - not as aggressive as the Marong Rd maggie - yet. I guess one good (training) thing about magpies is that you tend not to ride leisurely when there's one snapping it's beak near your head. Had a meeting down at the council this arvo and was running late, so I rode the bike - may as well count the extra distance. Rode home in the almost dark (with the flashing lights).
