Skins event in Bendigo. This was a series of 3 short sprint races with mass starts. The first race - I got off with the pack, but took a wrong track and got a bit bamboozled. it took me a while to start feeling like I could run over the rough ground which now has waist high shrubbery all over it - half of which is very prickly and scratchy. Anyway, I was almost the last person in for the firs trace on course 2. Had a ball in the second race - kept up with the front pack and pushed myself a bit. The person in the pack with the best local knowledge of route choices was David Jones - this map is on his home territory; but Andrew Cameron was choosing his routes well, and, as a faster runner, won the course. AS a relatively new orienteer (this is his 2nd season, he should be running the longer courses, as he has started winning course 2). I also enjoyed the 3rd race, almost keeping up with the front group, but taking a poor route choice on one leg. Found out when comparing leg times and routes that I had missed going to the final control, so DNFed - so stupid ( but a bit funny).
