Saturday Jul 20 #

Forced rest day as stuck at home supervising kitchen removal all day!

Friday Jul 19 #

1 hour hot yoga class after work
5 PM

Cycling 51:00 [3]

Didn’t get up earlier enough to run before work so walked into Leeds and train to work.
Bike was at work so rode home (in the pouring rain!). Felt good/ slight end of work week weariness.
Suunto/Strava says longer because I forgot to stop my watch.
8 PM

Easy + hill sprints 43:00 [3] 8.0 km (5:23 / km) +70m 5:09 / km

Really didn’t feel like running and after 5 mins I wasn’t even sure i’d Make it to a mile. It had stopped raining at least. Legs felt really heavy. Stuck it out to 20 mins then did 6 hill sprints. These felt surprisingly strong and the next 25 mins run felt I had new legs as I felt fine. Very weird.

6 AM

Cycling 1:00:00 [3]

Rode to work. Nice and easy.
6 PM

Moderate 1:08:00 [3] 16.3 km (4:10 / km) +80m 4:04 / km

Ran the reverse route of my easy run yesterday morning so gentle downhill for 3 miles then flat along the canal tow path for 7.
First mile or so my legs felt a bit heavy, probably due to being at work for 10 hours and didn’t manage to walk around a huge amount today. After a couple of miles legs started to wake up and I felt really good for the rest of the run.
I was wearing a light race vest carrying only my legs, purse and phone.
It was a lovely warm evening and a very enjoyable run!

Easy + strideouts 1:20:00 [3] 16.0 km (5:00 / km) +225m 4:40 / km

Woke up really early at 4.30. Wide awake so got up.
Could have been due to a slightly dodgy tummy - I ate pasta/pizza out last night so could have been that.
Didn’t feel I’ll so still ran. Did a similar run to last week, bus into Leeds then ran to work.
7 miles on the canal, felt really fresh/energised which I was surprised at given dodgy stomach. Took a slightly different route for the 3 miles/200m uphill section to avoid the cows. Felt a bit low on energy last 10-15 mins - maybe a bit dehydrated.
Did 6 strideouts after run - all felt fine.

Got train back to Leeds then walked 4 miles home
8 PM

S&C 30:00 [3]

2 sets of s&c. A day early than program but had more time today.
Split squat - 10 feels reallly easy now.

6 AM

Moderate 53:00 [3] 12.0 km (4:25 / km) +177m 4:07 / km

Moderate run from home through park and fields. Slightly different/shorter to usual now moderate route from home to avoid cow incident I had last week. First 4 miles on trail, 2nd 3-4 miles on road. Probably not moderate effort for first mile as I set off about 15 mins after waking up pre food and tea so wanted to to ease in gently. Felt pretty good from the start then from 2ish miles felt pretty bouncy and really enjoyed the run.
It was a very quick turnaround to then riding to work.
7 AM

Cycling 2:00:00 [3]

Ride to work and back. Lots of small gear leg spinning on the upwards inclines.
Perfect cycling weather - warm and no breeze!
19km/1 hour each way.

Monday Jul 15 #

Didn’t run today. Legs wanted to but thought a day off running was probably wise given number of hours over the weekend
7 AM

S&C 30:00 [3]

2 sets and back to usual number of push-ups
Increased hamstring curls to 20 (usually 15)
8 AM

Cycling 2:00:00 [3]

Rode to and from work. Felt good not to be carrying a 7kg pack!
Felt good - some returning bike legs seems to be one advantage of not having a car!
18 km each way.

Hiking 4:16:00 [3] 28.5 km (8:59 / km) +1750m 6:52 / km

Hiked/jogged from Keswick up skiddaw, great calva and blencathra then back skirting round bottom of Lattrigg. It was a lovely morning, warm with a slight breeze and visibility for miles.
Hiked the ups and jogged the downs, flats.
I felt really fresh on the ups and downs. Got quite low on energy at 2hrs 45 mins so starting eating then rather than 3 hours. At a Mountain fuel ginger flapjack between then and finishing. (360kcal)
Didn’t have time to go longer as needed to cycle to station to get home and didn’t want to set alarm as I wanted/needed the sleeping time.
2 PM

Cycling 2:05:00 [3]

Rode from Keswick to Langwathby railway station. I thought I might feel tired given morning hike but felt strong and rode faster than I have previously on this route.
38km/450m/1hr 45 mins
6km/20mins Ride home from station
