Didn’t have great preparation for the Peak Skyline.
As i mentioned I had an unexpectedly busy week at work (10 hours a day) so struggled to balance work/exercise/sleep and I think it all caught up with me by Friday. Then my car purchase fell through on Friday so ended up getting train to York at 10pm on Friday night to use my mums car to drive to Peaks, resulting in just under 5 hours sleep - not ideal!
As I didn’t know the race route I was reliant on the markings which had been removed about 1km in, and as I was just behind the lead group I sailed off in the wrong direction for a few minutes then I took about 3-4 minutes to get back in track so probably lost about 6-7 minutes in total. Didn’t push too hard to get back to the front, just kept at usual race pace. It was a lot hotter than I was expecting and there wasn’t much water in the course and I got a bit dehydrated between the 10 and 17 mile checkpoints. I felt ok for most of the race but didn’t really have the motivation to push really hard. Had 10 gels, 500ml coke and 4 litres water during the race. Despite feeling tired I really enjoyed the race.

Drove to work and ran a loop from there.
2 sets of drills - the high knees needed more effort than normal.
Run felt fine, just nice to get some fresh air after being in the office a lot this week.
6 strideouts at the end felt good.

2 sets of S&C. Felt fine even through I would rather have not done on 2 consecutive days but didn’t want to do day before race.

Rode to and from work - normal route.
Felt ok but can feel I am getting tired from a long week at work

Easy run around the park. No drills or strides as ran late at 8pm after the riding home from work. Felt ok but me mentally pretty tired.

2 sets. All as normal apart from hamstring curls which I did a bit less of than normal.

Ride to work and back. Normal route 18.5km each way. Had a lot of energy both ways.

Didn’t get home from work until 8pm, headed straight out for run. No drills as short of time.
Did 20 mins easy around the park, 8 diagonals on grass football pitch then 20 mins easy.
Really enjoyed the diagonals, found them quite fun and a nice break up to the easy run.
Felt a bit tired for first 5 mins, probably because I had just cycled home but after that fekt really good again/lots of energy.

Ran loop through park and trails/fields from home.
Felt really good from the off today (normally takes a mile or so to warm up) and that feeling carried on to the end. Great run!

Cycled from work to a friends for dinner so a bit of a shorter ride home. Much warmer and no rain.

I planned a route in the Dales from Dent to Settle so I could get the train to Dent and home from Settle. Turns out Dent station is 5km away from Dent so I spent the first 35 mins/5km battling through overgrown fields and farm yards to get to my route. The first climb (up the back of Whernside) was really wet and boggy which was pretty awful and quite hard to get into a nice rhythm. I then picked up 3 peaks route from Whernside and over to Ingleborough. Although it was relatively cool and overcast I was sweating an unusual amount running up Ingleborough which made the climb quite hard and uncomfortable. It stopped once I started to run down. I should have checked the route on a map as the Movescount route took me Onto a busy A road for a mile. It was still 3 miles to settle so instead of risking my life running on the road I managed to hitch back to settle. So not the best of runs unfortunately.
